re: 11/5/09 - A Sad Day

Death is death, whether it's in the tens or millions. Maybe the scale alters reception, sure. We're much more liable to have our hearts sink upon hearing 100,000 were innocently slaughtered than just 2 or 3 people. Still, you should be respectful towards the notion either way, because how are deaths like these a good thing? It just makes you look immature.

Someone will always have it worse than you, but one bad situation doesn't rectify another.

Like 250,000 people die a day, I could really care less about 13 people. I'm not saying I like it but it's just meh.

More *bleep*ing people in America that are ashamed at what you just said! From what I hear, one that was murdered was a general that converted to islam.
His few words may have been very blunt but he's not wrong. Americans typically don't care. They may show sympathy and pretend to be effected but they'll put the tragedy behind them with a day or so. I brought up the same point when I was talking about how everyone here in Virginia freaks out about the VT shootings as if they were shot themselves.

The families will be mourning and crying. You won't.

I don't feel bad necessarily, I mean, it's not something terrifyingly uncommon. But I'm not going to sit here and throw an "I'm apathetic!" party either and light off fireworks. If you don't have something nice or tolerably sarcastic to say, just don't say.

How does this sort of thing happen at army base? Seriously.

Apparently, the shooters used 9 milimeter hand guns.

Yeah, allied military around the world is in a shit right now

Did you hear 5 british soldiers got killed by a retard mother *bleep*er cop yesterday?
Ae you serious? The Taliban is largely a band of unskilled gunners who can't shoot anything that isn't within 100m. Only the higher ranking members of the Taliban are trained to a good enough to be a threat to our extremely well trained forces. They get lucky sometimes and the news makes a big deal about our 200 odd British dead (not to disrespect them, they are heroes no the less) but forget to mention we are slaughtering the Taliban, who now resort to IED's to kill soldiers. I am not saying we are completely decimating the Taliban in Afghanistan, we aren't but we are substantially better equipped and better trained.

This event is because of some selfish dick (and friends, if the news is right on that) that somehow wormed his sorry ass into the forces and shot up his base.

I mean generally this week, the armies of both our countries have suffered similar attacks

re: 11/5/09 - A Sad Day

quote The Shadow

Who cares?

Excuse me! Both of my grandfathers served in the United States Military during active war time during the Korean War, and one of them continued on to serve three tours of duty in Vietnam. They saw the horrors of war, and if something like this happened, it was not discussed during their time.
But the people that do care are the families of those that are currently in lockdown at Fort Hood, the entire community, the rest of the United States--I could go on and on but I won't. So next time, be extremely careful before throwing around a nonchalant attitude because this is some extremely serious shit that went down today!

Speaking of which, they're looking into the possibility of this being a terrorist attack from within.
And I pray to God that I am wrong on this: if this was an attack by an al-Qaeda insider, then the retaliation will be greater than the initial retailiation after 9-11. Unless the terrorists surrender, the various officials, anti-terror agencies, and the U.S. Military will find them, they will hunt them down, and they will put them down like the dogs that they are.
Seriously, I hope that my speculation turns out to be wrong. I hope that this is the case of someone losing it.

Some people need to learn to keep there incredibly disrespectful views to themselves. Just because X thousand people die all day, doesn't mean you can say "*bleep* it i'll specifically pick on these 12 dead and say i don't give a shit".
