Its very likely that their ISPs will ban them and they wont have acess to the internet for a long while. Im not completely sure how all this works, but I know that their accounts can be shut down, maybe permanately. So they might have to find a new ISP.

Yes but it's all dependent on hether or not the dmins feel that is the best way to go.

I know many of us would like to see it happen, but the process can be lengthy is the ISP is stubborn. If they are truly stubborn then the matter must be taken to court for anythig to happen. In the US what they did was not only against the law pertaining to websites as in hacking, but also a case of fraud as they used underhanded and fraudulent means to gather information about another person and then used what information they received in a malicious way. If this is procceded with the two could face a bevy of charges.

Now that everyone is up in arms about identity theft, situations like this are more common to ither gain attention or used as a deterant to anyone else who wishes to do the same. They could be used as examples for others to see. Bad time to get caught hacking, bad time indeed.

Not true...while most times younger people do escape being charged with anything, the system has started to crack down on those using internet means.

As I said with a big scare being identity theft these two if prosecuted won't escape charges, they will probably be ordered community service or probation (which by the way wouldn't allow them near or on a computer for some time) I would seriously doubt these two getting jail time but the situation is this. Under this category and the offense this would fall under FBI regulations not local. Local police and jidges usually do not have much jurisdiction for something such as this. In a case of fraud the FBI would give them something to think about.

From experience, with the IP they can get into a lot of shit but with the cooperation of their ISP and parents and stuff
