I've just recently bought this game and started playing. I've stayed away from the series because of the camera work, and I've been waiting for a decent zombie FPS.

But this game appears to be nearly zombies, and nearly FPS.
For the first chapter I was convinced that the zombies would be right around the corner and that these crazy spaniards were just warming me up. Then gradually it has dawned(when I saw their orange eyes at night and the 'things' bursting out of their heads) that this is it, and there won't be any zombies.

OK, so they are zombie-like. They're nearly as dumb(except they can throw endless numbers of axes and dynamite) and they certainly look like zombies up close(when about to bite). But where is the partly rotten flesh? Where is the creepy moaning that tells you they're around the corner? Instead they shout spanish at me, which really means that they aren't dead yet, and aren't really zombies.

So, will I be disappointed throughout the game? Or are there some more zombie like enemies still to come?

Yes, there are still Zombie enemies coming but this is a whole different story so that's why most of the guys are non-zombie like.

Uh, don't listen to Wesk, there are NO zombies in this game..

By now I figure people can research a game before buying it? Especially one that old? Jesus-

I'm just going to say that some of the enemies later on won't disappoint you, they are just as cool, if not cooler, then zombies.

So what if there aren't any zombies! It's a storyline, so maybe some new kind of creature invaded earth... Think about it!

I meant Zombie like enemies. Regens as an example.

There ya go, I answered your question. I'll also add that, although there are no zombies, you might actually hear "zombie-like moans" if that'll make you happier.
