Hello, I am seriously thinking about getting the broadband adaptor for my dreamcast since i already have dsl with many free hub ports to link to. I wanted to know, what the online play was like before i got it? Are there many players? What is the most played games? I don't want to buy it, and then find out that a total of 9 people play online dreamcast. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it seems that there are no longer any DC games that have servers for online play.

just to let you know this guy, SSGotenks89, probably doesnt even own a dreamcast, this is my first time on this board...well to actually answer your question dreamcast online does still work till an extent...very few games still work but i play them all teh time and they are really fun. you can play quake 3 arena, 4x4 evolution, worms world party, and some others still online...

So tell me how does one access this online function then. Wouldn't mind play PSO. Would you need a broadband adapter tho, those thinks are expensive.

in regards to the question about how to do it....if you have boradband yes u will need a broadband modem and the plentweb browser 3.0 which is 30 dollars on ebay....i dont knwo how you set it up for broadband but on dial up you just put in all your accoutn info for ur isp and the number it needs to call hook it up to a phone jack with a phone line and connect...if you wanna broswe the internet get the browser cd but to play games just go into teh game and click on network...

unofrtunately pso is reportdly not to work ne more, i have heard rumors of a private server but somehow u have to buy the hunter license from sega or somethin...

excuse me, but are there any Alien Front Online or PSO ver.2 servers still around? i want to play online wit DC but i heard all the servers were down except for the pso ver2 ones

all the dreamcast servers are down, i thought, well they are in the uk anyway. I was thinking of making a sever, untill i found out it costs £10000 (summit like dat) so i kinda decided not to, lol

i believe all dreamcast servers have been shut down but you may be able to find some 3rd party servers available

I believe what TrAb123 said was true. Sega announced a while back that the last standing DC server, PSO, shut down. I'm guessing you can find 3rd party servers for the games people listed above.

Yeah, I've had my DC since February '03. It's too bad I got it so late, but it was definately worth the $40 or whatever. I haven't gone online with it yet, though. I need to get a SegaNet CD and a broadband adapter first.
