I am starting this thread in hopes of being able to answer questions anyone may have. I am very good at Pharoah/Cleopatra, and will help daily.

Hello, is there no one here, is this forum dead?

How do I play Pharaoh on XP. It keeps minimizing the window and I can still hear the sound. I have downloaded the Entertainment patch and that doesn't help.

Kregg try turning off all programs that may be running, if you are using an anti-virus program disable it while playing.

I'm having trouble too. My copy of the game will not work when I first enter Family mode. The first mission of the first period will never open up. I'll watch the video thats tarts out with the footprints in the sand, and after it finished, the game crashes. I've been able to play other missions through the customized scenarios, but I can't really enjoy it unless I fix this problem.

I've been having a problem too (if anyone still reads this forum, anyway ). I can't make Pharaoh play at all on XP. I've tried changing the compatability settings in "Properties" and everything. After the AutoPlay runs and prompts me to hit install, I do and nothing ever happens. Anyone know of any fixes - I'm desperate to find one! Thanks in advance.

Paraoh should load and install on XP without problems, but to make an accurate answer I may need some info first.

Is this a Pharaoh CD, or Cleopatra Expansion CD, or the Paraoh/Cleo combo CD?

Is the program a pirated copy, or original CD.

Does the computer meet the minimum system requirements listed for the game.

Is the CD in the CD drive before trying to execute the program?

Did you register the game via e-mail after installation?

Did the game install into a Sierra folder or an Impressions Games folder?


Please note: If this is a pirated copy, please do not ask for help. Go buy the game,Pharaoh and Cleopatra can be purchased for $10.

How do you make money? I beat the first few missions and then it started getting a little hard to keep out of debt. I thought collecting tax would do the trick but maybe I've been playing Caesar too much.

Also, what's the best way to arrange housing? I usually have a big well than surrond it with houses except where I put the road.

Each of the frst missions on Pharaoh are the tutorial. Follow what the game asks for.

Water supplies are more efficient than wells,but they need labor. Put them inside a housing loop and the water carrier will cover the block.

Most of the first missions of the tutorial have no way of making money. The main focus is to meet the requirements of the mission long before the starting funds are exhausted.

By the 3rd or 4th mission imports and exports are the main source of funds. (Tax collectors aren't available)

Export finished goods made from resources that you already have. Import only raw materials, refine them into the finished product, and then export the finished products.

Example: Clay is a raw material. Produce clay with clay pits, refine them at a potter, and export what your population does not need. See the world map to find your trade partners, open a trade route, and set the items for export.(look under trade advisor).

Once the city has water, then food, then pottery, you will need beer, linen, luxury goods etc. to evolve the housing enough to make money from taxes. Religion,schools, and other services are also required to evolve housing, and may not be available in the tutorials.

Please feel free to ask questions, I hope to be of some help. Pharoah is a wonderful game, it is just a bit frustrating to learn.

well, I tried posting this in a seperate thread, I thought it might be read if I posted it here instead. I have a couple questions realy.

1. What is the best city layout, I have looked on this website for s ome but only saw very limited options a link would be nice.

2. Why arnt the people filling in my houses? I have room for 250+ people but I am always short on workers. And it always sais "People are immigrating to the city" Why is this happening exactly? Did I miss something.

How do u get pharoah to work on XP is there something u have to download to get it to work and if so where do u download it the screen pops up and asks me if i want to install and i click install and it disapears and nothing happens

if i dowload the game on my old computer can i dowload it on my new one or will it work anymore

Sorry for the slow reply, hopefully you will check back. I'm new, so did not see this before.

1) Insert the Disk into the drive.
2) Download it (after the below)
3) If it asks if you want to have a shortcut placed on your desktop, click 'yes'
4) Do not alter where the files will be saved.
5) If it does not autoplay, then go to 'My Computer' and go to the drive that has the golden picture from Phaoroah next to it.
6) Click on it. Download.
7) Now, after downloading, restart your computer.
8) Place the disk in the drive. If autoplay does not initiate, use the new icon on your desktop.
9) Have fun playing the game!
