Introducing WikiGuides

Hi everyone,

For the past few months, several wiki contributors have been working very hard on producing one of the NeoWikis that you might not have noticed yet:

wikiguides.neo

This special NeoWiki is intended as a place where anyone can start a NeoWiki and start writing walkthrough and lore information about ANY GAME without waiting for their request to go through the NeoWiki Requests forum.

wikiguides.neo is intended as a place to collaborate IMMEDIATELY on creating wiki content for your favourite game, and has been developed with many handy and automatic templates to make editing and organizing easier.

You can see some examples of fledgeling wikiguides here: What sorts of content should you put in your WikiGuide?
  • character lore
  • level walkthroughs
  • hints and tips
  • story details
  • anything that is informative about the games and goes beyond the scope of their Neoseeker profiles.

How to Get Started?

  1. First, read the Editing Standards. The WikiGuides have strict standards that help to keep thinsg organized.
  2. Second, check out some of the existing WikiGuides and NeoWikis to get an idea of the quality of writing and content that the Wikis need.
  3. Third, look for a WikiGuide to help out in, or create your own! Each WikiGuide is centered by a "hub" (the "Main Page" of that guide). You can read about creating hubs here. Unlike a NeoWiki the Hubs are based off of a central template that makes creating a new Hub as easy as a cut and paste.
  4. Ask for help if you get stuck.
Hopefully the WikiGuides become yet another way for members to share gaming walkthroughs, strategies, and also the rich lore within each game world.

Special thanks

Special Thanks to Prometheusx303 who helped develop all the amazing automation templates for WikiGuides, and to Nagare and Remultsie AN for helping to plan the structure and concept. Although the WikiGuides are based on the same foundation as NeoWikis, alot of extra planning and organisation above and beyond a normal NeoWiki had to be put down in order for the concept to be made with any sense of useability. Thanks everyone!

re: Introducing WikiGuides

Often when you request a full wiki, we will first advise you to create a WikiGuide first to see what kind of potential your wiki has. While the concept of a WikiGuide is a little bit different from a normal wiki, it's nothing to panic about. A few members have been reluctant to try it, but as you can see by a lot of the hubs, the results have turned out for more than better.

So please try out WikiGuides! We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about WikiGuides.
