Reminisce With The Classics

So lets reminisce with some of the classics from back in the day. For me a memorable one definitely has to be Crash Bandicoot! When I first got my PSX (at what the age of 10?), it came with a demo disc of about 20 games or so. Included on that was the very first Crash Bandicoot. I have to say I played that demo of CB probably over a 100 times? And from there I pretty much had all the CB games; Crash Team Racing, and all sequels.

What games really hit you when you think of the PSX?

Digimon world rocked!

I also loved Tombi, Crash, Spyro, Rayman, MediEvil, Pac-Man Anniversary and Klonoa.

There's probably loads more I can't remember.

Along with the original Crash series, I also remember Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Gran Turismo. Good times, those were.

The only reason I brought up the Crash series is because back in the day, I never had any real game systems of my own. So, I'd always visit my cousin's house and play around with his PSone, and he would always have Crash Bandicoot on hand.

The only RPG/strategy games that I ever got into back in my elementary school days were Pokemon and nothing more. But I've grown since then.

re: Reminisce With The Classics

  • Tekken
Because it broke that Ha-Hadooken problem- got me off street fighter and Mortal Kombats. Also a little known fact (I find) is that on SOME music CDs if you loaded up a fight, paused the game then inserted a music CD you could have KIND OF a custom sound track (WAY before X-Box) as a random track (at possibly a random point) would start playing. It was a nice novelty at the time...just wasn't fully customisable like X-box though lol. Then you re-inserted the Tekken 1 disk for any loading needed.
  • Tekken 2
Because it took Tekken and expanded on it vastly.
  • Tekken 3
Because it was so brilliant, it broke records and some magazines even had to change the way they scored games because they gave Tekken 2 a 10/10 lol and is STILL the best Fighting game to date IMO (well, it's between Tekken 3 and TTT IMO).
  • Resident Evil 2
Still THE scariest game I've played, and I've played quite a few games what seemed to be recognised as scary (including Project Zero II: Crimson Buterfly, Silent Hill 1-4, Resident Evil 1-4 including some spin-offs...Nightmare Creatures is a little un-settling aswell IMO) but only Resident Evil 2 has made me jump out of my seat lol (probably due to the fact that nothing happened for about 10 hours of gameplay as I got lost/stuck then a licker came flying at me).
  • Metal Gear Solid
Great atmosphere, Great gameplay (DUMB guards though lol) and great story, apart from multi-player, what more can you ask for!?
  • Tenchu: Stealth Assassins
Because it was a great alternative to MGS if you didn't want to use guns, and even if it was a pig to play at times/glitchy, the atmosphere and that debug cheat more than made up for it.
  • Tenchu 2: Birth Of The Assassins
Good story line (best in the Tenchu series so far IMO) and while the debug cheat allowing for same screen multi-player/team battles had gone, it introduced the create a mission to the tenchu series and some quite elaborate missions could be created (fake walls, optical illusions, swimming sections/tunnels etc). It was KIND OF 2 player though as one person created a mission to see if the other person could beat it.
