not to long ago there was a new patch for this game so i installed it and the game would not run, had to do a total re-install, installed all patches again, game crashes, so i re-install 1.33 again, 2nd to last patch, over the new patch and the game was running fine again. what patches have you installed?

Having the same problem with XP SP1, that makes this error universal. So far also I have attempted to reinstall without a patch, patch 1.33 and so on. The exact same installation has been transferred from my primary pc to my secondary, there I've ran it again on XP SP2, succesfully.
I believe that it has something to do with: -vga drivers -lan problem When CE has an extreme lag and loading time longer than usual this is caused by DNS settings, NO DNS must be configured in that case. For this problem I haven't found a solution yet, hope to find it soon. (am getting obsessed as frustrated)

Hey,
Singleplayer should be run unpatched to be safe, or with any update up until 1.33 if that works. Singleplayer definately DOES NOT work on patch 1.41 or up, because the game was altered significantly in version 1.41, 'breaking' the singleplayer. For multiplayer, you need patch 1.42, which provides a workaround for the SEB (spontaneous explosion bug) that was introduced in 1.41. Get it here: http://www.codename-eagle.com/CE/html/patches.html For LAN play, DNS settings should be wiped, as the previous poster indicated, as the computer may try to dial up (connect to the net) every few seconds, causing regular freezes. To start an internet server you are best off using a utility such as Spy98's Startupz 3 or Freeman's Eagle's Eye. (http://www.codename-eagle.com/scripts/DL-Tracker/download.php?id=17). Remember to open the ports required by Gamespy Arcade/3D and All-Seeing Eye to allow the server to be seen in those server browsers (Google should trun up the specific ports). LAN servers can be started from CE's multiplayer menu. Joining internet games is done from Gamespy Arcade/3D/ASE, as the internal server browser does not work for internet games. The internal browser works fine for LAN games. For internet games, you need to point the server browser to either ce.exe or game.exe in your CE folder. Try them both to see which one works for you. If you have any problems or questions or whatever, visit the CE community's official home: http://cebf.ws
