Ok. We went for XP as I didn't want to get into Vista.

When we first installed the game we had the issue with the black screen at the end of the first bit of video (with the ship). So, I checked and updated my drivers, re-installed the game and the patches.

Now however the menu page is missing the charred bloke to the left (I'm a parent installing this so sorry if I don't have the right lingo!) and when we get to the character creation we have no characters! The boxes are there, but without people in them. Simultaneously, we have one or two intermittent black lines on the screen.

We can fudge our way past this selection screen, but then the graphics in the game (not the film sequence parts) are all over the place.

I've tried everything I can think of. Please help!

I'm not sure about the problem but the place to get an answer to your problem would most likely be in the PC forums. People there would more likely know how to help than the people in here since this Xbox forums.
