She was right. The concentrations of power were too high to ignore. But what of the sources? Were they enough to join the battle against her foe? Maybe. Maybe not. Malali resolved to stay hidden in the shadows and not get involved, merely observing what would become of the situation.

Music for your listening pleasure.

Head West young man, you'll find what you're looking for. Head West. Why any man would seek that out...
I don't understand son, but you've got that look in your eye. You'll find it, I know you will.

Oliver clung to the red stone, his hands and feet lodged into the jutting rock. He tighten his grip, glancing down. Maybe 20 more feet and he could start climbing to the left, access from to the inner cliff wasn't far. The desert sun on his shoulders, sweat dripping down his brow. He lowered himself slowly, dust and pebbles crumbling into the bottomless pit below him. Oliver gulped, choking down his fear. He climbed down further, moving his feet from one set of protruding stones to another, slowly, carefully. He could see it now, just a swing over and he'd be on flat earth. Faust's gloved fingers flexed, ready to throw his body over. It was only a few more feet.

This land rejects you.

Oliver's body tensed, his fingers almost digging into the red cliff side. The voice seemed to echo in his head, it had felt like a blade had thrust into his very thoughts. The smokey voice still echoed in Faust's head. The old man's warning also stuck out in his head. What had happened here? Where did all the people go? "Was what I search for actually their end?"

Reality suddenly dawned on him. The suspense killing him, he swung his body to the side, wrapping around the rocky edge. Oliver's body crashed onto the solid ground, a sigh of relief escaping his lips.

The adventurer took in his surroundings. He was laying on the edge of the ancient Pueblo village. Hidden carefully in the side of the desert valley, who knew when the last human being had walked these grounds. The pale clay faces of the native homes stared back at Oliver. The wind whistled through the homes, mimicking an eerie voice, twisting into a chilling song. Maybe the voice that had startled Oliver had been the wind? A layer of dust swept up with the wind, covering Oli. He got up to his feet, patting the grime and dirt away. His hands skimmed down his body, making sure each piece of gear was where it should be. His handed stopped at his firearm, unstrapping it's holster. He drew the Dan Weson PCC. Oliver did a quick loo kover of the large revolver, everything looked to be in order. He had just picked up the firearm, deciding he needed to look into heavy weapons. Common handguns just weren't getting the job done in his line of work. With his free hand Oliver double checked his blade weapon's placement, and did one last brush off of his suit jacket.

He looked over shoulder, maybe one more hour of daylight left. He didn't want to be in this place after dark but it might be unavoidable. He glanced over at the ghostly cliff dwellings. They reached far back into the side of the valley, into almost a cavern. Deep shadows stretch out from the depths, images of fangs and claws etching themselves into Oliver's imagination. The wind picked up again, the pseudo voices screeching out to every corner of the hidden village. Lonely and eerie, all Oli could do was stare.

Oliver's glasses let out a sudden blip, a targeting reticule popping onto the lens of them.

"LIFEFORM DETECTED"

He knew it wouldn't be this easy.

re: Darknet vs. Sharksinyourmouth

Music to set the mood

16 Hours Earlier

The name of the club was "Night Life", a dance club that was the rage of all the young people. Pariah sat in the middle of everyone, the music booming and lights flashing. People out on the dance were jumping, moving to the beat of the music. He had a couple of drinks and was tipsy. Despite all that was going on around him, he couldn't stop thinking, thinking about his father. What a stupid tradeoff, Pariah thought. The drinks mask his pain but all he can do is think of his father when he is drunk. That laugh. That damn maniacal, evil laugh. It lingered in his head, feeling like nails on a chalk board.

A stoner-looking man sits next to Pariah, breaking his thought, and says "Here, take a hit of this, dude."

Without even thinking, Pariah took the pill and swallowed it, asking "What is it?"

The man responded "Acid"

16 Hours Later: Present Time

Pariah's eyes opened and he saw nothing but darkness. He was cold all over his body and was lying on his back. Everything felt like it was spinning, and he felt like he was slipping in and out of consciousness. Like when someone is tired and their mind fads in and out of reality. Pariah shook his head violently to wake himself. He got up and tried to get his bearings, looking around to find out what is going on. He was no longer in the club but in a cave. Aside from a hint of light, the place was pitch black, accompanied by the low and silent howl of wind and the dripping noise of water falling from the ceilings.

"Acid" Pariah said. "I'll never do that again"

He had to get out of here or he'd freeze to death. Pariah started to walk, trying to keep his balance but eventually he found his center of balance. It was hard to see and the cave was barely lit up by a source of light, which Pariah started to head for. His back ached, probably from laying on a cave floor for who knows how long. Along with that, the after effects of several drugs and drinks of alcohol started to get to him. His head was hurting and it felt like his intestines were tied in knots. The lingering feeling of being on the edge of vomiting existed as well. Despite his woes, Pariah thought that he'd trade this feeling over the constant pain in a heart beat.

The cave came to an end and Pariah was welcomed to the setting sun, still bringing warmth before it left. Seeing the sun made him breath out a huge sigh of relief. He spread out his arms and legs and closed his eyes, embracing the sun and the warmth that ran down him like a bucket of water. Even his head started to clear up. The feeling of coldness, slowly being replaced by warmth, never felt so good.

"AHEM!" said a random voice, which broke Pariah's euphoric feeling.

Pariah's eyes quickly opened and saw a man standing in front of him with a stone cold face. This stranger looked young, maybe in his twenties. Thick glasses sat on his face and blended well with his messy hair. He kind of looked like a dork, Pariah thought. But there was something about him, something more to him.

"Hi..." said Pariah, with his arms and legs still spread out. Pariah's eyes looked from left to right trying to figure out where he was. "So, you wouldn't happen to know where I am, do you?", asked Pariah.

"Do you know you have no pants on?" the stranger asked. Pariah, with his arms and legs still spread out, looked down to see his bare genitals hanging out in plain view. This would explain the cold feeling, Pariah thought. He stared at the man in the eyes for what would seem the longest, and most awkward, twenty seconds of his life. Pariah lowered his arms and just put them to his side and just leaned on his right foot. He could see this man still trying to keep eye contact with him.

"So that answers the 'Does the carpet match the drapes?' question" he said, trying to break the awkward silence with a joke. This stranger said nothing, making it even more awkward. Pariah looked around frantically and saw his pants at the corner of the entrance to the cave. "Oh...heh...there they are" he said. Pariah quickly walked over to his pants and put them on, while saying to the stranger "It's cold in here so don't judge. Heh. Acid....it's a hell of a drug Know what I mean?" The stranger just rolls his eyes.

"You're an idiot" the stranger said, finally breaking his silence.

"You're gay" Pariah quickly responded.

"How childish. I have no time to deal with an imbecile like you."

"An imbecile, am I? Them fightin' words right there, pal!"

"Fight me? HA! I'm looking for something important. I don't have time for you. Besides, I don't like to hurt idiots" the man said. A swift sideways kick can up from Pariah's right leg and the stranger lifted his hand quickly to block it. His eyes widened at the speed and power of the kick. A millisecond later and the kick could of taken his head off. Anger was written all over Pariah's face, his eyes squinting, his eyebrows stern, and his teeth showing. Pariah quickly jumped back with astounding agility. Quickly, the anger on his face went away.

"Shit...I'm sorry. I kind of snapped. I try and keep that in check" Pariah said nervously, rubbing the back of his head. This stranger was intrigued by what he just saw. Here he thought this man was just a random, idiotic stoner. But that one kick gave him a good idea that this man was something more. The stranger examined this weird man, looking at his white hair and red eyes. This guy was in great shape and had several small scars on him, perhaps indicating he is some sort of fighter. The feature that caught him the most was the white hilted claymore on his back. He wanted to know more.

"Okay...we'll fight. And my name is Oliver. Oliver Faust." Oliver said.

"Pariah....and it was cold. Okay?"

re: Darknet vs. Sharksinyourmouth

Epic Battle Music
Oliver smirked at the comment, but gave no hesitation on his attack. He lunged forward, a sweeping arm bar swiping through the air. Pariah dodged back, avoiding completely. But Oli didn't let up. He followed up with another full armed punch, and another and another, but Pariah was quick on his feet, avoiding every one of the human's strikes. Pariah caught an opening, launching a swift kick to Oliver's ribs.
The blow hit with tremendous power, stronger then any mortal kick should have been. Oliver actually felt his feet leave the ground from the force. Keep his composure, he saw Pariah rear back his fist. A electronic blip beeped on Oliver's glasses and a mechanical noise release from his body. His muscles seems to expand, but only for a moment, collapsing to their normal size. Still a few inches off the ground, Oliver caught the powerful punch in an open fist, his feet skidding across the dusty earth. He shifted the hybrid creatures momentum to the side, setting him off balance and struck with his free hand, square on Pariah's jaw. The creature tumbled to the ground, to the power of the blow completely unexpected.

"Guess there's more to ya, huh?" Pariah said, wiping the dirt from his face. Oliver nodded, "I can hold my own, and I know what you are. No man can fight like that." Oliver's tone was cold. He was measuring his foe. He saw it in his eyes, this was no mere mortal.

Oliver didn't wait for a response, thrusting both his palms forward, his body set in a posture to deal with the recoil he was about to induce. From his hands burst a radiant pulse of energy, searing through the air. It's silver coloring lit the cavern-esque village, tearing through the air. Pariah immediately dove to the side, the blast smashing into the ground he had once stood upon. The unearthly being rolled across the desert ground, springing towards Oliver. Closing the gap almost instantly, another kick lashing towards Oli. He blocked quickly, Pariah actually feeling the heat still emitting from Oliver's hands. His gloves had completely been burned away, some sort of metallic skin covering Oliver's own. Pariah's leg was throw away, followed by a quick counter-attack kick. It missed it's mark, Oliver's feet just missing Pariah's collarbone. Calculating a follow up, Pariah jumped backward, hoping to have dodged another kick or punch. While Oliver had made the gesture for another strike, range was not an issue. He thrust his left hand forward, his palm outwards. Another silver beam blasted forth. Pariah's body still in motion, he twisted to avoid the best he could. The blast cut through the air, just whizzing by it's target's ear.

An explosion filled the air, the beam had struck a clay building which had been almost ten feet behind the clashing fighters. Had he backed up anymore Pariah would be against it. It's hard clay wall crumbled, sending more red dust into the air.

Oliver ran forward, still not giving up his offense. He attempted a clothesline style attack, but Pariah ducked under his extended arm. Quick to his feet, the halfbreed turned the tables. He suddenly grabbed the off balanced Oliver by the shoulders and threw a powerful knee into his abdomen. Oliver gasped as the wind was knocked from his lungs forcefully. Not giving him a second to breath, Pariah struck with a quick one-two, his fists both smashing into Oli's jaw. The combo was finished with a quick spin kick to the chest, causing Oliver to actually fly off his feet. He was thrown through the air, slamming into the brittle Pueblo structure. It cracked under the force, and what was left of the wall collapsed with Oliver falling through it.

This land rejects you. Your presence will corrupt....

"Damnit.." Oliver muttered, spitting out blood and red dust.

"Maybe I went a little far, huh?" Pariah said, in what Oliver took as a mocking tone. "This is nothing!" Oliver spat out, irradiated, but keeping his cool. "I'm ready for round 2," Oliver smirked now, throwing both arms out to his sides. From each forearm extended a blade, each about two feet long. They were made of a dark metal, there edges razor sharp, and each ended in a dagger like point.

"Oh? heh.." Pariah smiled back and leaped into the hut with Oliver, not an ounce of fear crossing his expression. They were instantly throwing into the whirl a battle again. Dodging and weaving, blades and fist were flying across the room. The razors zoned in on Pariah's throat, but he caught Oliver at the forearms, throwing them attack outward. Pariah thrust a foot forward, slamming into Oliver's chest, but he turned with it, reducing the impact. Two quick horizontal blades slashed above Pariah as he ducked under Oliver's attack. He shot up, an open palm smashing into Oliver's lower face. He felt his feet lifted off the ground, Pariah running forward with Oliver's body. Ready to crush his opponent into it, Pariah run straight for the hard clay wall. But there was a problem, at the last second Oliver was gone.

Pariah didn't even have time to curse as he barreled into the structure wall at a full sprint. It cracked instantly, and he fell through into the neighboring hut. With his speed he actually crashed through this wall as well, finally stumbling to the dirt floor of the structure.

"What the fu-"

The high pitched charge of Oliver's palm blasters overwhelmed the air waves. Pariah looked over his shoulder to see his opponent with a single hand extended and a pulsing red stone, about the size of a human hear beating in his other hand.

"Let's see some of your real tricks, demon."

Oliver let the blast go, and rubble and debris exploded from the target structure.

re: Darknet vs. Sharksinyourmouth

Music for this battle

A cloud of dust shot up and covered the whole area. It was so thick that nothing could be seen. Oliver stood in suspense, waiting for the dust to clear and for the verdict of his attack. Oliver's glassess beeped loudly, indicating that a life form was still in the dust cloud. The wiry man just let out a smirk.

"Show me your true self" he said to himself. As the dust finally began to settle, a blue light pierced through the dust. A pair of glorious white feathered wings, covered in a blue aura, arose in to the air. All the dust settled and the wings were connected to Pariah, on his right knee, with his white hilted claymore in hand and his body glowing blue.

"So, it is as I thought. You are a hybrid of the two. You are the impossible: the combination of a demon and an angel. Fascinating..." remarked Oliver, with a smirk on his face.

"Fascinating? That's a new one. Usually when people find out, I get more of a 'MONSTER! MONSTER!' response" Pariah replied, smiling.

"The fact you survived gives me good knowledge that when you use your angel powers, you are more resistant to damage"

"Well shit, aren't you the smart one?"

"I try"

"You're also cocky. Cockiness can get you killed" replied Pariah, with his smirk disappearing. The white wings straightened upwards and Pariah lunged, flying through the air four feet above the ground. He made a forward swipe at the still smirking Oliver, who held up his weapon and blocked the attack. The smirk on Oliver's face soon disappeared and his eyes widened. He was then lifted off the ground by the blow of the strike alone. The cocky man was thrown backwards in to the air. Pariah point his sword towards Oliver's direction and pulled back his arm. The claymore glowed blue and produced a humming noise that which grew louder and louder. The hybrid thrust the sword forward and a blue beam of light shot out of it.

Oliver marveled at the beam. It looked like it could engulf a car. However, this wasn't the time to marvel. This will be close, he thought. The beam got closer and closer. He couldn't dodge because he was still in the air. Through quick thinking, he positioned his palm to his right and fired a blast, which knocked him out of the path of the beam. The blue beam went past him, almost a foot away from his right shoulder. It was so powerful that the force around the blast was strong enough to throw Oliver in the opposite direction of it. The beam traveled nearly one hundred and fifty yards before hitting a boulder. A huge explosion rose up, creating a blast the equivalent of five sticks of dynamite.

"Damn that was close. Almost turned you in to a million pieces. But that's what you get for being so damn cocky" Pariah said to Oliver, still in awe, contemplating what just happened. His shock quickly melted away in to anger.

"Make no mistake, hybrid, I'm going to send you to hell where you belong" he said with a snarl while getting back to his feet.

"Hell? They don't like me very much, they wouldn't let me in. Neither would heaven." replied Pariah, whose mind then began to wonder as he starts to stare off. "Shit....come to think of it, where would I go when I died? I guess Purgatory is where I would be sent. Wait, isn't where Purgatory where all the unbaptized babies are sent? Oh come on, seriously?! I *bleep*ING HATE KIDS! I'd have to spend an eternity of changing diapers! I'd rather be sent to hell and get raped by fire all day then go through that"

A shadow descended upon Pariah. Oliver slashed downwards with his blue blade upon Pariah. The hybrid quickly stepped back to avoid the blade. As the blade hit the ground, Oliver lifted his left arm and shot energy blasts at the hybrid, but the blasts didn't have an effect. Pariah countered with a couple of swipes from his sword, which were all blocked or dodge. Oliver now knew what to expect from this guy's strength. The wiry man countered with another quick blast from his palms. Pariah jumped up in the air and pointed his sword downwards, the hilt turning blue and humming. As he was about to fire another blast of angelic power, Oliver quickly fired an energy blast in to Pariah's face. The hit caused his head to pull back along with his sword and the energy blast missed and hit thirty yards behind Oliver.

Dust once again kicked up. This time, it was Pariah's turn to wait. Now was time to catch his breath a bit. Even though his body is more resistant to damage, the blasts of energy he has taken still hurt like hell. This guy was smart and Pariah needed to not show any pain on his face to make sure this guy didn't find that out. Though he is use to masking pain. The dust once again began to slowly but surely settled. However, Oliver was nowhere to be found. He knew that this man wasn't dead.

"He's hiding down there. I know he wants me to come down there" Pariah said to himself. A big smile went across his face. "Good, stay on the ground. I'll go German on your ass! AND YOU'RE THE BRITISH! WORLD WAR TWO, MOTHER *bleep*ER!" yelled Pariah. His sword hummed and he fired multiple blasts in to the ground. Explosion and dust sprang up everywhere, mixing fire and dirt. With each blast the land began to become more and more deformed. After fifteen blasts of energy, Pariah stopped and waited for the dust to settle, yet again. So much dust, he thought to himself. It seemed safe to go down now. No one could of survived all that. He descended on to the destroyed ground and looked around and still did not see any signs of life. He lowered his guard, something that would cost him.

In a split second, Pariah heard two things. He heard the sound of a disturbance in the air and the sound of a cloak waving in the wind. He turned towards the sound and saw Oliver charge at him with his palm extended out, coming out of invisibility. His guard was lowered and he knew he couldn't dodge or block it.

"An invisible cloak? How cliché..." Pariah said to himself.

Oliver struck the hybrid hard in the chest with the palm of his hand and sent out a burst of energy. Pariah screamed in agony at all the force being push on his chest, the smell of his flesh burning. The force wouldn't allow him to breath. Oliver continues to push harder and harder but Pariah knew he had to keep standing.

"Ha ha ha ha ha"

The sound of the energy beating against his chest, the sound of his flesh burning, all of it was replaced by a laugh. Pariah knew that laugh all too well. He hated that laugh with a passion. Why? Why is this happening now, he thought to himself. Was it the pain or something that triggered it? Anger came upon his face. It almost seemed like his red eyes became even redder. He looked upon Oliver, showing his teeth and screaming. The image of Oliver disappeared and was replaced by his father, laughing with that evil smile on his face. Images flashed in his head of that day, the day he killed his father. Watching him on the ground, in a pool of his own blood, just cackling at him.

"St....st....stop laughing....stop laughing....STOP LAUGHING" Pariah whispered.

With Oliver still shoving a blast of energy in to Pariah's chest, the hybrid grabbed his neck and threw him to the ground. Oliver grasped at the hybrids hand, trying to stop him from crushing his throat. Adrenaline pumped through Pariah, causing him to forget all his pain. Pariah's sword hummed and he pointed it at Oliver, with his hand still around his neck, shouting.

STOP LAUGHING!!!!!

The sword fired and they both disappeared in the blue light.

Music

"Just what I wanted.." Oliver thought, smirking as the immense blast enveloped everything around himself and Pariah. Faust kicked hard at Pariah's chest, breaking his tight chokehold.

But it was to late, the blast of searing blue energy was still soaring at him. Faust wrapped his arms around his torso, a makeshift last second defense. The energy burned at his face, tearing at his clothing. The sleeves of his jacket were burned to tatters, but Oliver just held himself tighter. His hands wrapped over his shoulders, the backs of his hands facing outwards. The energy outputs on the back of his hands lit up with white light. The light wrapped around Oliver's frame, shielding him from the full effects of the attack. Through the attack Oliver could see Pariah's face.

His eyes.

They flashed vivid red, more force being pushed into the blast attack. Oliver's knees buckled, more force then ever pushing into his shield, trying to burn him to ashes. With just a thought the shield's energy output increased, the white tint flowing into a red glow.

This was no time for defense. Pariah had snapped into a rage, and it wasn't ending til there was no Oliver Faust left. Throwing his arms down forcefully, Oli lunged forward through the projectile assault. With his still protruding wrist blades, Oliver spun in a charging attack. Cracks were visibly showing in his projected shield. Only a few more yards, but Oliver didn't know if it would hold. He could feel the heat spilling through the cracks, waiting to bake him alive. He met eyes with Pariah again, the same red eyes contrasting against this blinding blue.

"This wont be the last thing I see"

Oliver swooped up, parrying Pariah's broadsword upward, redirecting the deadly attack. Pariah tried to stop immediately but a shock wave of pure energy still smashed into the rock ceiling overhead. The rumbling sound of falling stone echoed around the fighters. Oliver reacted as fast as he could, eyes glaring to the sky. More of collapsing ceiling really. He rolled to the side, his full body energy shield withdrawing. Boulders of all sizes crashed to the ground around him. He lost track of Pariah, but he had other worries. He dodged and weaved, trying his best not to be crushed. A huge chunk of rock smashed to the ground nearby, completely destroying a clay house. Oliver rushed up the side of the wide but short rock, hoping to use it as a high point to spot his enemy.

Pariah had other ideas. Just as Oliver reached to stone's apex he was assaulted. From of pile of rubble, a huge crescent slash appeared, clearing it's prisoner a path of freedom. Oliver drew his sword in reaction, holding it firmly in hand as Pariah soared through the air at him, blade out. Waiting for the last second, Oliver spun out of the way with accelerated agility. Pariah's heavy blade sunk into the stone like butter. He ripped the sword from the stone immediately, a trail of dust and steel slashing up at Oliver. With all his strength Faust parried the beast's blade, pinning it back to the stone. Like lightning, Oliver drew his heavy firearm, whipping it's barrel straight for the half breed's chest.

"Got y-"

Pariah struck faster, freeing a hand from his claymore, he smacked a fist straight into Oliver's jaw. Faust tumbled backwards down the rocky battle position. Giving not a second of delay, Pariah leaped off the rock, hoping to make Oliver a smear on the floor. The heavy sword crashed into the rock-ridden ground, dust flying up around the hybrid.

Oliver was gone.

Gunfire rang out into the cave like village, a burst of three. With impossible reflexes Pariah swung his wide sword up, covering his body with it like a razor edged shield. The bullets would have hit their mark, the piercing projects flying into Pariah's makeshift defense. The unearthly creature let the sword drop, his eyes searching for the gunners location. Something suddenly grabbed his attention. Three metallic contraptions we attached to Pariah's sword. Only an inch in width, a red light flashing in the center of each of them. "Shit," Pariah spat out as blinding like erupted from the bullet traps. All the world was was white.

Pariah heard another single shot and tensed, unaware of where it had come from. No bullet torn his skull in two, so a ounce of relief was had, but only for a moment. Pariah heard running approaching, throwing himself into a defensive stance. It was to no avail, his momentary blinded state making his defenses useless. A sharp pain shot into his shoulder, a metal blade sinking into his flesh. The world started to have shape again, a pointed blade flying straight for the hybrids face. Pariah darted to the side, the blade slicing by, he could actually hear it cut the air.

As the world came into focus Pariah saw Oliver now with a spear like weapon, it's blade and handle resembling the sword he had just held. Faust's next blow was parried, this time Pariah's sight permitted him a counter attack. The wide swing missed it's mark, Oliver ducking over the large blue blade. Right when he thought he had safely ducked the attack Pariah swatted the flat of the sword downward, smashing Faust to the ground, face first. He quickly spun on the ground, only to be met with Pariah's claymore readying the execution. Oliver thrust his polearm up, twisting the handle all in one motion. The blade instantly split in three, now a trident like weapon. Jumping up, his arm energy outputs acting like jet boasters, Oliver caught Pariah's sword in his trident, turning it as he willed. The hybrid stumbled backwards from this surprise response, regrouping his stance.

Oliver still had one surprise up his sleeve.

Just as Pariah thought he had recovered a blip lit on Oliver's glasses, and he snapped a finger. A louder beep sounded were Pariah stood, his eyes searching for it's source. Sure enough, right between the creature's feet was a bullet sized device lodged into the ground. That must be what that random gunshot had been. Oliver smirked as the bullet exploded in a flash of brilliant light. Pariah's body was thrown backwards, forcefully. His body smashed against the broken remains of a village hut, his clothing smoldering from the explosion.

Oliver readied another assault when an unexpected noise filled the cave side village. The air suddenly grew heavy. The tiny bits of rubble on the ground seemed to dance in place.

"Enough. This Land rejects you! Your presence corrupts it's purity!"

The voice was clear, or as clear as an disembodied voice could be. It was the same as the one before, raspy and deep. From the look in Pariah's wide eyes he heard it too. Oliver held his breath, the scanner of his glasses reaction quickly.

PARANORMAL SIGNAL DETECTED PARANORMAL SIGNAL DETECTED

Oliver had been so busy with the fight he hadn't taken his surroundings in. He knew the stories, about how one random day everyone in this village had disappeared. He should have know. He looked around himself and realized the disrespect he and Pariah had caused. Oliver's meters were off the charts.

"What the hell is that!?" Pariah shouted, taking the moment to catch his breath. Oliver gave him a glance and shook his head,"Something very bad."

The rocks and rumble churned around the fighters. "They cant touch us, but they'll touch whatever else they'd like. I'm going to take care of you and get what I came here for. I don't have as much time as I want, and that's your fault!" Oliver charged across the fighters gap, the rocks still dancing from invisible strings. "Are you crazy!?" Pariah said, raising his claymore in defense. Oliver swung his weapon, the jagged blades of the trident clashing into the wide sword. Slashes were traded back and forth, the warriors parring and dodge each other's attacks. Pariah swung his blade down, Faust blocking the attack with the staff of his polearm, throwing the force to the side. Oliver just barely caught it with his eyes. The dancing sand was harmless, but it seemed the spirits grew even more impatient. A man sized boulder was tossed through the air by invisible hands, Oliver rolling to the side, Pariah luckily enough was already out of the way. The rock struck into the earth, waves of dust bellowing into the air. It swirled unnaturally, just another warning sign.

Not showing a second of fear Oliver thrust through the air, aiming for Pariah's throat. The hybrid caught the weapon with his blade, guiding it off course. More rocks in the distant stirred in ghostly restlessness. They soared through the air, hoping to crush the intruders, but they skillfully guided themselves across the uneven battlefield.

Oliver raised his trident over head, energy pouring from his hand mounted outputs. The weapon was coated in searing hot white, ready to slice Pariah in two. Faust spun the weapon swiftly, swinging it forcefully. Debris and rocks flung back and forth surrounding the fighters, a third enemy making it's self more prominent then ever.

Pariah's blade lit up in coursing blue energy, meeting Oliver's swing with full force. The fighters stood at a standstill, both pressing their weapons forward. They both grit their teeth, Oliver's Hydra-suit blasting bursts of white energy from his hands. "As soon as you're out of my way that book is mine!" Oliver shouted, a wave of sound, of clashing steel, of searing energy and the grind rocks all around him. "I dont even know what you're talking about!" Pariah shouted back, still pushing with all his might. "The 'History of silenti etc'! That's why I'm here fool, you think I'd waste my time on you for no reason?"

Oliver surged forward, Pariah stumbling over, crashing to the rough ground below. Faust quickly thrust the tip of his trident to the hybrids throat.

The history of these people would be mine, and all their secerts. I need to know what happened here.

"Now get out of my way."

re: Darknet vs. Sharksinyourmouth

Music for the battle

Shit, not enough time, Pariah thought to himself. There was no way he could dodge the trident from cutting in to his throat. With no other options, Pariah mustered his angelic powers and launched a burst of power that sent a shock wave from his body. The blast was strong enough to push back the wiry man and his trident and throw back twenty yards. This isn't good, the hybrid thought to himself. Pariah's body was hurting all over and nothing could change that, despite how hard he tried to hide it. The burst of energy he sent out took a bit out of him as well. At the rate this was going, he was going to be six feet under after this fight. There was no other choice, he had to use it.

"Ah, about time. I've been wondering why you wouldn't use that" Oliver said. The hybrid's face lit up in confusion. He knew what was about to happen. Smart prick thinks he knows everything. "Does it have anything to do with your father?" Oliver asked.

"How could you possibly kn-"

"-I saw in to your mind, hybrid. With this mask, the Mask-"

"-of Sagroth. I've heard of it. But when did you read my mind?"

"Oh you know what it is! You get a gold star. I read your mind when you were hovering in the air. I saw what is in there. Your father raped your mother and killed your grandfather. I saw it all in you. Your rage...your hate...your hope. Your hope for a happy life."

"You saw all that? Damn...I feel so violated" Pariah responded with sarcasm, covering his chest and crotch area. He continued "Well...it kind of has to do something with my father, about how I feel closer to him when I use these powers" Pariah threw his claymore off to the side, sticking in to the side of a rock. He looks away to his right, showing a lack of confidence in his posture "But if I were to say the main reason I hate it is that...I feel so god damn inhuman when I'm like this"

Pariah immediately falls to his hands and knees, groaning. Sounds of bones rearranging and inner parts moving filled the area, combined with the sound of groaning. This was a chance for Oliver so strike and finish his opponent but he couldn't. He was intrigued to see what will happen. My curiosity may one day be the death of me, he thought to himself. The hybrid's skin started to turn to scales, his skin darkens. Long black nails start to protrude from his fingers, elongating to nearly a foot. Pariah finally looks up from his hands and knees position, showing his eyes were now glowing red and his teeth turned sharp.

"HAHAHAHAHA" laughs Pariah, whose voice was being masked by a darker, more low growl. The now hellish demon moved his hand's and knee's position to that of a runner who is about to take off. The hybrid leaps out and sprints. His speed is almost unreal. He reaches Oliver in a matter of seconds, swiping and slashing at him. Oliver musters all the speed he can just to dodge and block the attacks. The demon showed his great speed by suddenly appearing behind Oliver, who barely managed to dodge the forth coming jab.

Oliver jumps backwards to create some room to get his head in order but the hybrid just appears before him, smiling and showing his sharpened teeth. For a split second, he stared in to the red glowing eyes and saw a monster. The demon leaped at him and Oliver was barely able to side step, losing site of the demon for just a second. He turned quickly to prepare for another attack but the hybrid was gone, vanished in to thin air.

"You can't hide from me, demon" Oliver proclaimed. He taps his glasses to scan for life signs. The glasses let off a loud bleep, indicating there is no signs of life. Impressive that you can hide from my glasses, hybrid, Oliver thought to himself. But can you hide from the Mask of Sagroth? The wiry man put the mask on and scanned the field. The mask detected no life.

"This is impossible! There is no way you can hide before Mask of Sagroth!" Oliver shouted in to the battlefield.

"Anything can be hidden in the shadows" said a masked voice, coming from behind Oliver. Pariah appeared out of no where and once again leaped with an attack to kill. Once again, he was out of sight for a second and was gone again. Oliver looked around erratically, becoming nervous. His mind started to swell up with thoughts: Where is he? Where would he appear? How is he doing this? From behind, again, Oliver heard footsteps. He quickly turned but the demon was even faster now. The demon slashed at Oliver's leg and put a cut in his calf about half an inch deep. Pariah turned around to face his opponent, sliding on the ground from the momentum of his speed. He crossed his arms and stared at his enemy, with a great satisfaction on his face.

Oliver opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by a strange feeling that arose in his body. His vision started to blur and double. Weakness started to spread all over him and his balance started to fail, as if he was intoxicated. The wiry man processed in his brain about what happened, his mind spitting out hundreds of reasons until he figured it out.

"Your claws are secreted with poison...and the deeper the cut, the more affected you are by the poison" Oliver stated, who started to uncontrollably sweat and stumble.

"Good job! Now YOU get a gold star" exclaimed Pariah, clapping his hands.

"But what I don't understand is how you can hide from me...hide from my glasses. From my mask..." Oliver said. Pariah's smile went away and he gave the poisoned man a stare.

"Hmm....do you ever read manga? I honestly can't get enough of the stuff. Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail. All of it. I'm addicted. But if there is one thing that pisses me off the most about those stories is how the enemy will explain their powers of something" Pariah exclaimed, walking back and forth. "I mean, it makes no sense! It's a huge advantage in battle. So why tell them? 'OH HEY! THIS IS HOW YOU CAN BEAT ME' Doesn't that crap just piss you off?"

"So you're not going to tell me. Why didn't you just say that in the first place?" Oliver responded.

"Just wanted to see if you had the same interests as me, I guess" Pariah said. Deep down, Pariah respected this man and just wanted to connect with him a little bit. The reason why Oliver couldn't find him is because Pariah's powers take him in to a different dimension, using shadows as portals. Life is not picked up on the mask because it is not in this dimension. Pariah's father was known as the "Shadow Serpent" by the world and was feared with this power.

"I will tell you that I gained my powers from my father. I hate fighting with his powers. Goes against how I like to fight. My grandfather fought head on like a knight. My dad fought like an assassin. Though that doesn't mean he didn't have a bit of firepower behind his powers" explained Pariah. The demon inhaled a huge amount of air and spit out a fireball, no bigger than a beach ball. It didn't move very fast. Even when poisoned, Oliver just jumped to the side of it. But Pariah still had a smile on his face. Just as the ball of fire passed by Oliver, the hybrid's eyes glowed even redder. The fireball exploded no more than ten feet away from him. Oliver screamed in agony as he was blasted by heat and fire on one side of his body. He fell over to his side and started to roll around on the ground, screaming, as his suit and face steam from the heat.

The hybrid started to dance around in a circle, laughing. He lifted his hand in the air and twirled the Mask of Sagroth on his extended pointer finger claw.

"Oh, and just in case you want to figure out the mystery by reading my mind....then...you can't. *bleep*. That didn't sound witty at all" Pariah said.

"When did y-" Oliver asked before being interrupted.

"-I'm just that good. When your as fast as me, it's easy to pickpocket someone" Pariah said. He lifts his head in the air and lets out a sickening laugh.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

re: Darknet vs. Sharksinyourmouth

Music!

The image of the demon before Oli blurred, coming in and out of focus. As if the restless spirits weren't enough deadly poisons was coursing through Oliver's veins. He grit his teeth, feeling the blood seeping from his leg wound. The very earth seemed to tremble around him, unseen hands shaking dirt and stone.

"I'll figure this out.."

Oliver lunged from his standstill, hoping to sink his deadly trident into this beast. Pariah was to quick, ducking under the blow, weaving under the next, and then he was gone. Faust spun on his heels, his eyes scanning as fast they could, but the hybrid was no where to be found. A searing pain shot through his body, and he tumbled forward, the agonizing burn of pain ringing through his body. He rolled across the ground on a shoulder, quickly propping himself up with his polearm. Pariah stood where Oliver just had, and blood flowed down his the human's back. Four long tears rang in pain under Oliver's suit jacket. The attack had actually pierced the Hydra-suit. Oliver wasn't going to catch this beast. Not at his own game.

Oliver's eyes moved rapidly across the interface of his glasses, prepping his next move. Compressed air seemed from valves in his suit, thin steam slipping into the air. The patterns on Oliver's glasses disappeared and he charged. He grabbed device his suit produced from his belt.

Pariah was already gone, but Faust already expected that. He already knew the demon had sunk into some dark portal. Some shadow. "Anything can be hidden in the shadows"

Oliver stopped at about midway between where Pariah have been, and he stopped, Faust's shadow lurking behind his shoulders. Sliding across the gravel Faust light what was in his hand, dragging it across the rough ground. The tip of the cylindrical device burst out a radiant white light. The shadow behind Oliver, and all of shadows within nearly 40 feet were purged. Pariah was lurking in plain sight, right were Oliver's shadow had been. His face was a mix of surprise and anger. "Nothing can hind in plain sight, demon. Think I've never seen a damn anime?"

Oliver shot forward, his enhancement suit forcing his aching, poisoned body forward. The trident sunk into it's mark, straight into the demons torso, the long jagged blade slicing through unearthly flesh. Pariah let out a guttural growl, his hands grabbing for the weapon that was plunged into his gut. Oliver had already let go of it. A wave of blood flowed past Pariah's lips as he realized Faust was behind him. He glanced over his shoulder, realizing the human had grabbed that damn mask off the ground. Pariah had dropped it in pain. With a hand on each end of the ornate black mask, Oliver leaped at his foe, wrapping the mask around Pariah's face. It pressed against his face forcefully as the demon tried to throw the pesky human off his back. Faust held on, this was his last hope. He didn't have the strength to finish this creature but maybe someone, something else did.

"They're are worst things to gaze into then your foul head, Demon!" Oliver shouted, struggling to keep the mask on Pariah's eyes. The demon was stumbling back and forth, crashing Oliver into rough rocks and stones, even into the wall of one of the ruined village houses. The wounds on his back were torn even worse, but he fought through the pain, his suit jacket a bloody mess."Do you see them Pariah!? DO YOU SEE THEM!?" Oliver pulled the death mask over the hybrids face even tighter. Pariah clawed at Faust's fingers, the armored Hydra-suit saving him from the worst of it.

Pariah let out a horrible cry, his low voice gurgling from the coughed up blood. The world was black and white. The darkest of darks, but the whites were blinding. Not a pinpoint of color. The creatures were every where. They're horrible faces glancing from behind the shatter battlescape. They peered over, their eyes locking onto Pariah. Their miserable hands searched across the stoney surfaces of their hiding spots, their horrible elongated fingers digging into the stone. Their faces were blank, only the bright contrasting white. A dozen of them scurried across the dust ground, crawling on all fours quicker then should be possible. All they saw was Pariah.

Oliver dug his knee into the demons back, forcing his head up as he tried to look away from the creatures. The monsters closed in, their thin limbs propelling them closer and close to their prey. They were the spirits who guarded this village, ancient geists left forever to remember this cursed place. Trapped in ever lasting torment, they only wished for others to know their pain.

The ghastly beings leaped off the ground, launching themselves upon Pariah's exposed body. One tore the trident away from his chest, tossing it carelessly to the side. They surrounding him, they're dreadful claws dragged across his exposed flesh. Their faces twitched in glee, their limbs danced in a horrible dance. Someone would know their pain. Only the lens of Sagnoth revealed Pariah, Oliver saw none of it. He only held the Mask of Sagnoth against his enemies face. Pariah had stopped struggling, his body no buckling as the creatures took pleasure in his suffering. Hands Oliver could not see drew long gashes along Pariah's limbs. All the hybrid could hear was their cries, their cries of feral pleasure. All he saw was their blank faces, staring back into his.

Oliver let go slowly as he felt Pariah's body go limb, as he feel to his knees. The poison running through Oliver's veins had worn out his strength, he couldn't have held on much longer. Cuts ran all up and down Pariah body, across his chest and shoulders. Oli let out a heavy sigh, placing the Mask of Sagnoth away. He walked over to his discarded trident, picking it back up. The rocks and rubble had ceased it's ghostly dancing. Pariah's eyes had now closed, his chest lifted up heavily, the demon taking in a breath of air for the first time in what felt like forever. "He's still alive.." Oliver muttered to himself. Other then the subtleties, Pariah still have gotten up.

Oliver pointed the center tip of his tridents at Pariah's throat.

It was knocked away immediately. Pariah pounced on the human, rage and pain in his eyes. Oliver was pinned to the ground, the enemies face to face on the ground. Blood dripped from the demons mouth, running down Oliver's face, onto the dirt under them. Pariah raised hand, his fingers tipped with those deadly claws. Oli kicked as hard as he could into the demons stomach, turning to the side. He threw the attack off course just enough, the bladed fingers slicing up dust from the ground. No time to think, Oliver pressed his palms against the beasts tattered chest and blasting radiant white energy into him. It burned into flesh. Pariah was sent flying off Oliver, who instantly was on the offense, his long wrist blades bursting from their hiding places. A bladed spinning backhand slashed over Pariah's ducked head, who countered with an equally fearsome attack. They traded blows, slashs and cuts catching here and there. A deadly claw dragged across Oliver's cheek, blood splashing into the air. Poison leaked into the brutal cut. Faust reacted with a quick knee to the abdomen, stunning the hybrid for a moment. Oliver retracted his right blade, quickly drawing his heavy revolver. Point blank, Oliver fired 3 rounds into the demons shoulder. Pariah shrieked in pain, lunging forward with both claws ready to tear Oli to pieces. Eight long spikes sunk into Oliver, four in the right shoulder, the other close to his left hip. No ready to die, Oliver activated the explosive bullets in Pariah's body he had just shot into him. The kinetic blast of the rounds sent Pariah flying into a ruined hut.

Oliver held his horrible wounds. He was losing to much blood. A split second of beeps and blips and a pack on his beat unlatched. A simple beaker of thick red fluid was exposed. Oliver grabbed it, unplugging it's stopper quickly. He gulped the sweet liquid down as fast as possible. It was so sweet it stung his tongue. He hunched over, coughing. Everything around him brightened. The most horrible of his wounds ceased to bleed for the moment. The ache from the poison seemed to wash away. The sound of choirs filled his ears for a moment, and a wave of strength crashed over him. The angel blood had prepped him for the last round.

Oliver spun around quickly, Pariah leaping from the shadows behind him. To bad Oliver didn't care more emergency flares. Both Oliver's wrist blades again shot from their mountings.

"Let's finish this!"

re: Darknet vs. Sharksinyourmouth

Music

Pariah quickly slashed at Oliver and was quickly countered with an attack of his own. The blades parried and ringed through the air. The hybrid jumped back to get his bearings. His whole body was hurting. Images flashed in his head of the evil spirits, his cuts and wounds burning when thinking about it. He let go of his demon powers and slowly faded back to his normal self. The hybrid looked up at Oliver, who was battle ready and poised. Pariah's head was spinning with thoughts and emotions. But the emotion that stood out the most was anger.

"That was a dick thing you did there!" Pariah shouted to his opponent. Oliver stood there, not saying a word. He was done with words. "I don't use this often. It hurts so much when I do it. But what you did to me...I can't easily forget. You looked in to the mind, you made me gaze upon spirits and let them have their way with me. To be frank, Oliver, I'm really pissed off right now" he bellows.

Pariah rips off his clothes except his pants, revealing tattoos on his chest, back, and wrists that were covered up by clothes. Blood and cuts were mixed in to his whole body from the present and the past. But they were all overshadowed by these bold, black tattoos that looked like circular symbols. The hybrid spread out his arms and yelled "And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him." Pariah says loudly. The tattoos started to glow a light teal color and Oliver's eyes widened. No, it couldn't be, Oliver thought to himself.

"And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, 'Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.' And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death." Pariah continued to say.

"You fool!" Oliver shouted. Pariah stopped talking and looked down to meet his gaze. His eyes glowed blue, covering his demon eyes, with a sad look upon his face.

"Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein!" Pariah shouts. An explosion of white light fires from Pariah's body, kicking up a large cloud of dust. The buildings and rocks around them collapse from the force alone. Oliver leans forward to counter the extreme force to stop from throwing him around like a rag doll. The force fades, only leaving dust to obscure the battlefield. He looks at the dust and, once again, a blue light penetrates it.

"The Sword of St. Michael" Oliver mutters underneath his breath. The dust settles to reveal a twenty foot tall transparent suit of armor, glowing a bright blue. Pariah sits in it's chest with his arms and legs in a cross position. His eyes and tattoos continue to glow "Shit..." mutters Oliver.

The gigantic armor being leaps forward. The speed is almost equal to Pariah's speed in his angel form. It swipes downwards with its sword and Oliver barely dodges. The sword hits the ground next to Oliver and a great wall of force shoots out, hurling Oliver in to the air. While in the air, the angel armor jumps at him and grabs Oliver with it's right hand. It throws Oliver to the ground, face first, and then proceeds to drag him along the ground as Oliver's face and body were being crushed and rubbed up against rock. The armor drags the defenseless man along the ground for twenty yards before it throws him to the side of the cliff, the rock buckling from his impact. He falls to the ground, his body aching and burning. He tries to fire blasts of energy from his wrists but it is nothing but a mosquito bite to the armor.

The armor pulls it's sword back, it's gigantic sword starts to hum. Oliver knew what was about to happen and starts tries to move away from the cliff, stumbling and tripping as he movies. It fires a blast of blue energy from the tip that flies through the sky with great speed. The wave of blue went over Oli's shoulder, only to hit the cliff behind him. An awesome explosion hits Oli in the back, sending him flying through the air, landing in the middle of the destroyed village. This was it, Oli thought to himself. His body was broken and there was no way to fight against this. The wiry man used all his strength to stand on his knees, looking up at the godly weapon as it stared at him. He sees Pariah, sitting there inside. He still still has a sad look on his face.

The Sword of St. Michael charges, sword ready, at the weakened Oliver who is standing on his knees. He doesn't move, ready to accept his fate. Everything slows down around him, watching the transparent knight run towards him. He thinks about his life, contemplating if he had any regrets. The beaten warrior just doesn't know, as he lowers his head.

Oli's train of thought was interrupted by the sound of a puking noise. Pariah throws up a puddle of blood in the gigantic armor being. The sword of the weapon raises and slashes downwards. As it is about to land on Oliver's head, it disappears. The whole armor being disappears, leaving just Pariah as he flies towards Oliver from the momentum of the armor. The hybrid smashes in to the weakened Oliver, both tumbling and rolling on the ground. After they both stop tumbling, they each land on their back, lying next to each other with Oliver's body point in one direction while Pariah's in the other. Their heads are the only thing next to each other. A silence overtook the whole battlefield as the two laid next to each other, broken and exhausted. The air filled up with a subtle noise, as if it was echoing the sound of their battle. The echo was mixed with heavy breathing from the two. Oliver turned his head to look at the hybrid.

"In the moment I forgot about the side effects of Sword of St. Michael. I've been looking for that weapon for awhile. Who would of guess it was with you all along" Oliver said with smile, wincing in pain every time he spoke. The weapon is not meant to be in mortal hands and thus will destroy the user. The smile went away with a serious look. "What drives you so hard, hybrid? Why do you fight so hard?" Oliver asked. Pariah just smiled as he looked at the sky while on his back.

"I thought you knew everything about me since you looked in to my mind" Pariah responded with a chuckle.

"I saw in to your mind. Not your heart" Oliver rebutted. Pariah heard the words and continued to look in to the sky, contemplating what to say. He didn't really understand much himself.

He let out a huge sigh and said "When I defeated my father, I stood over him while he was bloody and beaten. Despite knowing he was going to die, all he did was laugh. He told me he won. He had created a being that would forever suffer. It's one thing to make someone suffer but something completely different to create something to suffer" Pariah's mind filled with his father's words.

"The minute I stuck my dick in your mother, I won. AHAHAHAHA!"

"I then sliced his head off but he was right. Since I was born I've always been in constant pain from head to toe. I'm always hunted by demons and angels because to them I'm a monster" Pariah states before puasing for a second, trying to breath a bit even though it also hurts every time he spoke. His head was spinning from the pain and emotions that were coming up. "I honestly don't understand why I fight so hard. But if I were to take a guess, it'd be hope. The hope for a good life. The hope to defy my father and not suffer" Pariah said, as he turned his head to Oliver with a stern look upon his face. Oliver stared back at him, both trying to read each. The staring was ended with Oliver's smile.

"Talk is cheap. Show me" Oliver said with a huge smile on his face. He started to move and try to get to his feet. Pariah saw this and tried as well. The two looked like they were 80 years old men, trying to get up after falling down. They both groaned from the pain, shaking with every muscle movement. Pariah looked to his right and saw his claymore. Well that is awfully convenient, he thought to himself. Pariah picked it up, feeling like it weighed fifty pounds heavier. Oliver pulled out his weapon as well, which also felt heavier than usual.

The two looked at each other for one last time. Despite all the hatred, these two respected each other. For they were both warriors. And warriors share a bond like any other.

They both charged at each other with their weapons ready.

re: Darknet vs. Sharksinyourmouth

God. What an amazing duel! Nice job guys, just a few things for both of you:

-Don't randomly change tenses. I'm not sure if this is a grammatical error or not, but you both swapped into the present tense every now and again, and it just confused me. If it's just your style, screw my opinion but it's just something I picked up.

-Watch out for words being omitted! It happens to me a lot, and I don't see them on my re-reads. You both had a few fragment sentences, they didn't take away from the duel but again I think it's something you should know.

So, winnerpicking time...
