re: HD 720p robs

Uh, either make sure the cables are hooked up the right way, or try using different cables.

re: HD 720 problems

Ok, here's the possible answer to your problems. Namco believes that people reporting the problem are those who do not actually own widescreen HDTV's or may have to adjust the settings in the dashboard to get it to work with particular models of HDTV's. In the game mode for SC2, you must have an HDTV for it to work properly, as it will attempt to add the extra sides automatically. If your playing on a standard T.V. size, it will attempt to 'squish' the wide format to fit the standard, thus giving you the distortion. You will either have to remove 720p mode back to normal, or it was suggested you could set up your t.v. to a different set top style in the xbox dashboard video setup options like wide or standard and see if it can be 'tricked' into working.

Does this seem to support the people who are reporting the problems? Are you playing on Standard size screens that even though may support 720 aren't actually widescreen. Please note that 480 mode will work with either standard or HDTV sizes and this problem won't normally occur for most games.

Also note, the game itself was created in 4 x 3 format which is why the 'squishing' would take place if it were attempted to play 720 on a standard tv.

Also you can try this. Set it to no on 720 (leaving it at 480 or 1020 is fine) and pick Widescreen Progressive DRC. This may help also if your still having problems. Seems like various T.V.'s need different work arounds or there's miscommunication with various game owners.

re: HD 720 problems

OOOOOH YAY!! I'm not the only one with this problem!!

Alright, here's what I did: after like, 5 attempts, I just turned off 720 and 1040(1040, right?), and just played on 450(whateverthe 4- option is). Worked fine after that... Yes, I do have an official HDTV. And yes, I'm sure I connected everything perfectly. And yes, I used the High Definition AV pack.

re: HD 720 problems

Alright, cool.

Maybe you can note the model of the T.V./size so that if anyone else has the problem, they know the sure fix for it.

Also, to verify, was it necessary to turn of 1000 res or not?
(Sorry, can't even remember if it's 1020,1040, or 1080 lol)
Also, though it may seem silly, please note the year manufactured if possible. I've been browsing reports this morning and certain models, though different years, may have to resolve the issue differently.

re: HD 720 problems

My TV - Mitsubishi WS-55511. Not sure exactly when it was made, but I'm assuming late 2002/early 2003 (we bought it in late January).

As for the 1040 res. question (yeah, I checked, it's 1040 ): I'm sure sure if it was, but it worked, so I'm not complaining . The game only supported 720 anyway.

re: HD 720 problems

Sorry, I don't have component and I can't verify that, it was a posting and the information they had stated that, I transferred it verbatim. I'll try to dig up some more with your specific model, but at least it works for now.

Wait, you need a HDTV in order to play the game? Or am I just odd and confused?

re: HD 720 problems

You don't need an HDTV to play it, but if you're trying to play it on one, there's some problems getting the game to work on it, that's all.

re: HD 720 problems

Mitsubishi WS-55511, your prob is your tv doesn't support 720p, it's supports 480p, on any TV you can only get a true digital picture using a DVI cable, Digital to Digital, everything else is analog! About .000001% of tv right now support 720p and even if one does, it might not have a DVI plug, meaning your TV ISN'T DIGITAL, it's half digital one could say. The solution, buy a new tv with DVI and that supports 720p and PAY THE PRICE, or you could buy the Viewsonic N6 video processor: cheapest way to get 720p for your xbox although still no DVI. I just use it for gaming with an xbox. This is valueable info, ignore it and your stupid.

Thank you for that info. I'll keep that in mind when I go to buy my digital HDTV, hopefully next spring. Must buy DVI!

re: HD 720 problems

but just remember the DVI is only for use with 720p/1080i DVD players so far, for Xbox you just need a tv with 720p support to enable your half ditigal 720p res. No game systems support DVI yet obviously so that's the best you could do for now. Also when getting a DVD player, there are very few models that actually support 720p. I've only seen two of them so far! And they both run through a DVI cable in order to get that PERFECT 720p! Oh yeah almost forgot, Xbox dvd DOESN'T support 720p either! No DVI NO DIGITAL PIC! Although the Xbox 2 should support DVI, it won't because they wouldn't have many buyers for the system since barely any tvs have it.

... Yes, that's exactly the reason my TV says "Digital" and "1040p" on it... I'm 99% it has a DVI plug, as well. I've also got the HDTV Xbox hookups.

Also, that's a big n-o on buying a new TV... it's still the top of the line Mitsubishi... We only bought it in January, dude.
