Battlefield 2 System Requirements

quote Hitman3
I decided to make this thread so there's no need for any 'Will my PC run this game'-threads. Below are the system requirements, please compare your system specs with these. If you're still not sure, post your question(s) here and we'll help you

---------

  • Minimum Specification:
    CPU: 1.7 Ghz
    RAM: 512 Mb
Video Card: NVidia GeForce FX 5700, ATI Radeon 8500 or ATI Radeon 9500
    with 128 Mb of RAM

  • Recommended Specification:
    CPU: 2.4 Ghz
    RAM: 1 Gb
Video Card with at least 256 Mb of RAM

    ---------

  • Operating System:
    Windows XP (32 Bit Version)

  • CPU:
Battlefield 2 supports the following processors:
    Intel Pentium 4
    Intel Xeon
    Intel Pentium Extreme Edition
    Intel Celeron D
    AMD Athlon XP
    AMD Athlon 64
    AMD Athlon 64-FX

    AMD Sempron processor

  • Video Cards:
Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards:
    Radeon X700 (PCIe)
    Radeon X600 (PCIe)
    GeForce 6600 (PCIe)
    GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe)
    GeForce 5800 Series (AGP)
ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition
    ATI Radeon X800 PRO
    ATI Radeon 9800 Series
    ATI Radeon 9600 Series
    ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX)
    ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series
    ATI Radeon 8500 Series
    ATI Radeon X300 Series
    NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra
    NVidia GeForce 6800 GT
    NVidia GeForce 6800
    NVidia GeForce FX 5950 Series
    NVidia GeForce FX 5900 Series
    NVidia GeForce FX 5700 Series

    ---------

Test your PC to see if it runs BF2: *link*.

    ---------
    • Hard Drive Space:

To install Battlefield 2 you will need approximately 2.3 GB free hard disk space, plus space for saved games. Additional space is required for DirectX 9 installation.

In addition to the installed game, Windows will require additional free hard drive space for its operating system (virtual memory).

If you encounter the following message in an error dialog:

    • Ran out of virtual memory
Free up some more hard drive space.

    • Improving Gameplay Performance
Some machines will benefit from experimenting with your Network / Video / Sound options

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

I'll appreciate more insights on people with newer processors like the Pentium D or core 2 duo... I have a bad mobo and want to upgrade, I'm leaning toward a Pentium D but does BF2 runs better with this processor?

    Thanks

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

Get a Core2Duo, they offer a great bang for the buck and are way faster than the crappy Pentium D. Trust me, they're hardly better than their P4 counterparts. The way they're designed basically kills the dual core concept, as they just don't take use second core to it's full potential. Conroe/Core2Duo on the other hand does, and does a really good job at it. The 6600 and 6800 are the best CPU's you can get for a (relatively) low price, in fact the 6800 is faster than AMD's FX62 while costing nearly half it's price.
Have you concider going AMD by the way? Their X2 CPU's are great and really cheap since Conroe's launch.

hello, I'm about to purchase a 8800gts gfx card, and wanted to know if any of you have the new G80 series of nvidia cards and how it runs on bf2. i found ea has only certain cards which work perfectly with their games. my expansions for mohaa stoped working when i bought a new card years ago with latest drivers... anyway can anyone out there tell me if they have any trouble running the dx10 card? i know it supports dx9 but u know how ea are

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

Will battlefield 2 run on a core 2 duo T5200 - the clock is set at 16.GHz. i.e. Does the dual core bump this to 3.2GHz and give good performance. I'm a little confused about whether BF2 will see it as a multithreading system or not (Is BF2 multithreading?).

    Cheers

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

Having two cores doesn't double the amoutn of cycles (hz). A 1.6ghz core 2 duo will handle BF2 just fine. It will only use one core because BF2 wasn't made for multi-core systems. Because of how efficient the Core 2 duo is, a single core of the chip can do amazing things.
Basically, the game will run fine, as long as you have the video card and ram for it, on that CPU.

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

Cool, the rest of the system is strong:

    533 MHz FSB
    2GB DDR2 533MHz dual channel
    x1400 Radeon 256MB
    7200RPM 80GB HD

Yeah, I was aware of the common clock - Just wasn't sure if BF2 was multithreading or not (or how it's installation process performance-checks the system!).

    Thanks for the help.

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

the real video card requirements are these:
Video card must have 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets:
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater
    ATI Radeon 8500 or greater
you put this under minimun requirements but then u have other stuff for the video card section.

Your videocard will be holding you back though, I suggest you try the demo before you buy the game.

My friend runs it with a 7600 and it runs way better than my other friend who has some 5950 or some geforce card he has.

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

I checked out system requirements lab to see if I'd be able to play this game and apparently my CPU doesn't reach the minimum, but my CPU speed surpasses the recommended speed.

    my CPU minimum recommended
CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) Pentium 4 or Athlon XP equivalent same as minimum
    Speed: 2.66 GHz 1.7 GHz 2.4 GHz

If everything else (ram, video card, etc) are good enough, should i still be able to play bf2 with this CPU?

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

It only says you don't meet the minimum because you have a Celeron processor and Celeron processors are definetly not for gaming. BF2 will still run, but don't expect all high settings even if you do have a fantastic video card and RAM.

If you have the time and space, download the battlefield2 Demo.

    re: Battlefield 2 System Requirements

I just wanted to see if my CPU would be good enough for the game. I never actually said everything else was. Unfortunately, i have integrated graphics, with 32MB of vid ram, no transform and lighting and no pixel or vertex shaders. Everything else is good though so i just have to upgrade the video card.

    Thanks for the info.
