Guilty Gear Judgement

I don't know if this is the right board to post in, but here I go.

I recently played guilty gear X2 #Reload at a friend's house and want to get into it, but the problem is, I'm bad at it and I know nothing of the story.

So I'm thinking of getting Guilty Gear Judgement for the PSP when it comes out in February (or something like that). So I have a few questions.

-Is it worth getting into Guilty Gear this late in the series?

if so...
-What's the story up until this game?
-Is this a game that takes progression of skill over time, or just button mashing and memorizing controls?
-What's the difference between this game and the one on the Xbox? Because I hear it's the same thing but with a "boost mode"

thx in advance for responses.

yes, I've only been playing for a couple years and I'm still
learning new stuff. and by button mashing you mean to randomly press buttons and hope for the best or the actual technique of rapidly mashing all the buttons to reduce damage in SFA3? then no mashing ussualy leads to whiffed combos in most cases. an no ther isn't realy isn't alot to memorize in combos since most of the normals are interchangeable, some characters arn't realy played with alot of combos either.

If I had a psp i would get it just to have, but as far as playing it seriously on the psp controls I dunno. and boost mode sucks its a good idea in concept but just didn't realy work in isuka. If you want a good 2D fighting game then get it. I can't remeber much of the story I mainly play for it for the gameplay / combos.
