Geez, I wonder when this forum was created? I never surf neo for game profiles, and have no idea how I found this lol; but i'm sure happy there is another PSO!!! Now I need some screenies haha.

I hope it dosent go back to its Roots. Those Games really SUCKED! Except number 4, that one was fairly decent.

i hope they go back to the roots to some extent, the final fantasy series has taken a turn for the worse as a result of not sticking to their roots. I thought all four original fantasy stars were just great, they were truly ahead of thier time back when they came out.

Man, I hope it's a classic RPG! Phantasy Stars II and IV (the only ones I've played through completely) were awesome... and I was SORELY disappointed when I saw what PSO ended up being. Don't get me wrong, PSOs are all fun and set the standard for console MMORPGs, but they severely skimped out on the story, and that killed it for me. The graphics and stuff look great on PSU, but I hope they don't pull a Squaresoft and rely on eye/ear candy.

The way it seems, though, PSU is a hybrid between the old PS games and PSO games. I mean if you look at the trailer (or the intro flash movie to the official site), it says in fading text, "Phantasy Star Online 2?" and "Phantasy Star V?". Also, in the flash video, there's handdrawn and/or CG artwork reticent of PSIV's. There's also a mixture between the character styles and such between the old PS games and PSOs.

Evidence to support it being a classic RPG, though, would be from the captions:
"The rebirth of a legend...."
"A Phantasy for the new millenium" -- PSIV's subtitle was "End of the Millenium", if you're not familiar with it. The premise being that Dark Force tries to free itself every 1000 years, and it must be stopped (by whatever main characters are involved).

However, at the end of PSIV, it is quite clear that the entirety of Dark Force, the "Profound Darkness", has been destroyed... thus making PSIV the finale and PSU possibly a 'rebirth', continuation, or new beginning to the classic PS saga.

that ign article is buggered...unless somehow in my monstrous collection of roms ive missed phantasy star on the snes (not a chance, sega wouldnt publish a game on a competing console...well not back then).
im thinking (going strictly from visual data) the games progression online will be dictated by the planets. 1 planet will have certain plot elements. it would be truly awesome if they did combine the old with the emerging (real gms to move plot along). the first 4's story (vehicles, generations of characters, interstellar travel) with a fresh graphic front end would be amazing.

From the info that ive found out and from the things that ive heard from info leaks, the game is supposed to be very similar to the PSO games, but from what ive heard, due to the complaints from the first games, we're supposed to be seeing quite a few references to the old Phantasy Star games, so for all of you gamers who like the old ones a lot, like myself, there should be many references and connections to the old games to look forward to. Hopefully theyll actually have a story this time around instead of just a brief mission listing, i mean god was that boring, well anyway, ill supply what info i can about this game, email me if ya want more info, ill do what i cant to help
