Atari Jaguar vs N64 which has more bits
|
You can all socialise about which has better bits but before you do that here is the difference
The Atari Jaguar is a video game console, released by Atari Corporation in 1993. It was designed to surpass the Mega Drive/Genesis and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in processing power. It was in competition with 3DO and later consoles that made up the Fifth generation of video game consoles. The console was first released in selected U.S. cities in November 1993, and the rest of the country in early 1994. Although it was promoted as the first 64-bit gaming system, the Jaguar proved to be a commercial failure and prompted Atari to leave the home video game console market. Despite its commercial failure, the Jaguar has a large fan base that produces homebrew games, making the console a cult classic.[2]
So Atari first made a 64 bit system while nintendo was making VirtualBoy which wasn't completely working well in 1995 as it had to stop in 1996.
While(it was on my N64 vs PS1 topic)had 64 bits also. They are pretty much the same except for the audio.
So you choose which one you like the most.

You usually have to give credit for that, otherwise it's plagurism (sp?)
Also, about the title, it's not about which has better bits, it's which has more, but seeing as they both have the same, I'm gonna say that atari didn't quite use those 64 bits to it's fullest extent

What made the Jaguar stink was, Atari had a powerful console but didn't know what to do with it. Again, as with any console, it is the games that make or break a system. If they had concentrated on translating arcade games to the system, it would have had a better game library and would have been more popular. The best games, that I enjoy, on the system is, Tempest 2000, Defender 2000, Raiden, all arcade games and make it worth having IMO. Other games that are good, Rayman, Iron Soldier, Val d' Isere Skiing and Snowboarding, Zool 2, Pitfall, Alien vs Preditor and Super Burnout. I also enjoy Cybermorph. And there are maybe a couple of other games than could be considered worth having. Many games were just poorly programmed and unfinished or were just bad ideas.. None of these games take advantage of the 64-bit system. Because of that, none of the games have the same quality as the N64. In comparison to the N64 there are a ton of great games on the N64. The Jag library is pitiful. But that is the fault of the Developers. To me, the Jag is truly a 64-bit system with 16-bit games. Presently the system even as is has a big cult following and Homebrew games are being developed for it. If Atari would have had a top notch Developing team working on the Jag it would have been a killer system in its day. But they dropped the ball.
The N64, when looking at the games, has more to like. I will pull out my Jag whenever I want to play Tempest, Defender, or Raiden, and I will pull out my N64 for most everything else.
