Well, from what I've seen, it does much more than that.

Well, you don't have to worry about me.
And speaking of "spamming", perhaps we should avoid doing such a thing in a place like this. -------------------

quote DXDsiwch to PM. also the controller pack acts as an external battery, the other one acts now only as extra ram, but somehow avoids my data from deletling itslef. ------------------- ![]() Join GoBad Chaos commanders Join Time Warp Join the Star meteor clan

And extra RAM was apparently needed during those days for somewhat heavy games such as DK64. Nowadays it would be considered a lightweight.

re: controller pack |
quote Duncan Idahowell, its not JUST an external battery. If you pull one apart you'll see it has a live memory chip in it. That's what you are saving to in games that need it. The expansion pack is extra RAM to increase performance of the console. It's pretty much equivalent of increasing DDR memory in your PC...

But such an action was only required for certain games back then in order to support the type of technology that isn't as adequate as today's.

well, yes and no, batteries are more efficient than your hard drive, or mem card.

re: controller pack |

no the batteries were on the individual cartridges, the expansion pack its an extra memory, bateries were more efficient due that you could for a matter of fact save your game and switch to the other not worrying yourself to see IF you still had left space to use and save the game like happens with the last gen consoles.

So it acts as a form of memory card for those old time systems that would always just save internally.

re: controller pack |
quote DXDlets just say that the systems instead of evolving went 3 steps back, batteries rocked because i could have 30 diferent games worrying that i had to deletle files onto the cartidrages of the exact game, with memcard altough you could store multiple saves, its always the problem that most saves uses several blocks (the wii is the only expextion 1 file> has all your saves of 1 game.) ------------------- ![]() Join GoBad Chaos commanders Join Time Warp Join the Star meteor clan

And the memory card has a notorious history of corrupting and wiping out certain save blocks at random, especially when Soul Calibur games are concerned(mainly 1 through 3).

re: controller pack |
quote DXDyeah it happened 5 time in a row to my SA:BT2 i had to re-start my game and my chao data due tot hat rpoblem the wii altough lacks of that problem (and saves of multiple games in a 360 and PS3 get away with a ton of memory i saw ragnarokseeker channel one of his MM vids showed he had few games but of 60 G he only had left about 10) so in certain aspects the batteries are way superior to memcards, and also to disc, so far there isnt even 1 pirate copy, or something liek an R4 for the nintendo 64 as far as im concerned. ------------------- ![]() Join GoBad Chaos commanders Join Time Warp Join the Star meteor clan
