Exactly, renting is pointless. Just sell it if you don't like it.

Renting is useful for newer games that sell for full price. Because if you buy one of those and try to sell it, a store will usually only give you about one-third the original amount for it, even if you've only played the game once. So renting it can allow you to see if you want to pay full price or not.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to everyone here! Have a great holiday guys!

But buying it and just selling it back still will cost you less than renting it, and then just buying it all over if you like it.
Plus, why would you want to rent it, sit and play it for a little while, then have to stop and return it, then buy it and just play?? It totally disrupts the flow. -------------------

I don't know about you, but renting in my area only costs $1-$5. It's not pointless for the reasons Vile Megaman stated.

Exactly, I would rather pay an extra $4 to make sure the game is one I want to buy, instead of paying $50 for a game and then wanting to return it. Rue, you're assuming that the games you rent are the ones you end up buying anyway. But that's not always the case. Renting is a way of testing the game before you buy it.

Glad you're having fun with it, Machiko. I got Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for the PSP, and I'm having fun with that as well. My friend was thinking about getting a Wii, but he already has a PS3 and Xbox 360, and didn't think it was necessary. So I haven't gotten a chance to play one yet.

quote Machiko ShimaNo offense, but I just don't care for LoZ games. I think they suck. quoteAssuming you take care of the game, then you should get quite a bit of money back when you sell it. And what about the flow, V? If I'm getting into this game, I still have to stop, return it, then go back out shopping and looking for the game, then buy it again just to go back to playing it! It's not worth the trouble. -------------------

You would think you'd get a good deal of money back if you sell the game, but you don't. If you open up the game (and how else would you play it), the value goes down by about half right there. Even if you play the game once and bring it back to the store the same day, with no scratches, fingerprints or anything, you'll be lucky to get half your money back. The store considers it "used", no matter what the condition. Believe me, it's happened to my friend plenty of times.
As for the flow, if you're really into a game, I live in an area where you can easily return the rental, then go to a separate store a few blocks away and purchase a copy for yourself. Sometimes, rental stores even have new copies of the game available for purchase. And if all else fails, just keep the game for another rental period, so you can play it for twice as long. Sure, you'll pay double the original rental price, but if it's a short game, you may finish it and not even need to buy it.

Probably so, Rue. How much money do you make back on it?
Rikku, even though the Wii shortages weren't as bad as the PS3's, there were still plenty of people waiting on line overnight for them. If you didn't do that, or pre-order one, they're going to be hard to find for now.

That's strange. Rue, you should have bought them all up and sold them on Ebay! You could have made a few thousand dollars in profit.
