American football? What's the matter? Too manly for you? Or maybe you're Mexican?

I think the problem with football is that it's slow. There are all these time-outs, with only a few seconds of action in between. Plus, people make football players out to be so tough. Why do they wear all those pads? Why do the referees throw penalty flags at the slightest infraction? Did you see when the Patriots got penalized because one of their players brushed against Peyton Manning's helmet? Ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, it's still better than soccer (and for that matter basketball) players flopping on the ground all the time, pretending they're injured. But if you want to see real tough guys, watch boxing or mixed-martial arts.

I guess that's where we're split. I've always found football entertaining even as a kid. I always thought baseball was too slow. Even though I like it I just think the season is just way too long. It's hard for me to catch the White Sox games because I'm always busy. But in football, it's convenient to have most of the games on Sunday and Monday. I played high school football and I know what you mean about the tough thing. I was about 120 lbs. in my freshman year. But it's a team sport, unlike baseball. So it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Baseball does have a very long season, and so by comparison, each individual game is much less important than a football game. And it's almost impossible to catch every baseball game. There's a lot of waiting around in baseball as well, but instead of being because of time outs, it's because of warm up swings or relief pitchers or whatever. But to me, there's more of a sense of anticipation. I guess it's all just a matter of personal preference. While I like pretty much all sports, baseball's my favorite, even as a kid. Like you and football.
But what do you mean? Baseball is a team sport as well. The pitchers, batters, and fielders all have an impact on the game. One star player can't carry a team, unlike basketball. Just look at A-Rod as an example.

Maybe he isn't American. That's the only logical explanation I can think of. Or unless he's talking about Futbol.

quote Vile MegamanBecause all you do is tackle eachother. Seriously, you seem to do that more than play with the actual football. It's just stupid. And look at those suits they make you wear. They look stupid. Thos suits are probably safety, but they come up with something better than that. And I am American, Machiko. Well actually, Native American, but whatever. -------------------

Yeah, he was just joking around, Rikku.
But you do have a point there. Perhaps American football should be called something like "tackleball", because tackling is a much bigger part of the game than kicking. That's probably why every other country calls soccer football (or futbol). Speaking of football, sorry your team lost on Sunday, Machiko. I was rooting for them, and after that kickoff return for a touchdown (and through the whole first quarter actually) I thought they had a chance to win. But you have to hand it to Peyton Manning. Even though I never liked him, he really put on a great show, and outperformed Rex Grossman in every way. The Colts had better play calling, and even better defence, surprisingly. They deserved to win.

People may see our loss as Rex Grossman's fault, but Bears fans see it partially his fault but most of it goes to Ron Turner (our offensive coordinator). I found it silly that Kyle Orton didn't get any play time at all during the season. I had to turn the game off during the last 10 minutes because I was just disgusted. There's always next year, though.

I agree. After all, Grossman went something like 20 for 28, didn't he? That's not bad. It's just that he threw those big interceptions, including the one returned for the touchdown. That's what many people remember about the loss. Anyway, good luck next year.
