re: Notice / Inquiries |

If there hasn't been one already and out of simple curiosity, what are the chances of establishing a Helpdesk-like thread here in the General forum? Generations I and II are virtually, if not completely dead, and while I haven't checked myself I can assume the third or at the very least the fourth generation forums must be overrun with inquiries and requests.
I appreciate that the idea behind not having such a thread is the members' ability to post topics to resolve their questions, but - given the same logic as the Loungin' Helpdesk (and any others I may or may not be familiar with) - it can get to be a chore in a forum as active as this one, not to mention the DPP forums, when a thread disappears before it's gotten any views. Not to mention the series in general is so tightly interwoven that it would, if nothing else, be useful to have a place for new members/players to get help with basic mechanics. But, those are just my thoughts. The only ones that really matter here are the moderator's, whenever he/she returns.

Loungin' is a special exception. The forum does not have a focus, it is the closest thing Neoseeker gets to a spam forum. It is, however, defined as a forum for all Neoseekers to gather in and "socialise". So with all the people socialising and the huge PPD it has, along with no focus, you can see why a general help thread would be able to work. This is because it's not disruptive as there is so much discussion going on and again, there is no focus.
The General Pokemon Forum has a focus, it's Pokemon. It's most active in terms of general game forums but, it's not super active and all activity always remains on the first page. A general help thread would not be right as it would detract, it would disrupt and it's undeserving od a special exception to rules. As for older generation games, last time I looked people do answer in those forums when a question is posed. Though of course, since those forums are dead, people would be likely to come here. Though I ask you with all seriousness, how many questions to old games do you think there is? My answer is very few, which undermines your main point. Not many people ask questions for the first couple of generations anymore. As for the third generation and onward, there are frequent questions because they are recent enough to have a solid base of players still. Their questions are perfectly answered within the respective forums also. So to summarise, the Loungin' help desk thread is a special exception for reasons that this forum does not share. The thread is not needed and therefore, there is no point in making it. Also, don't just say that the only opinions which matter are Moderators. I used to be a Moderator, Moderators are members who help to facilitate the forum. Members who aren't are the people who make the forum. So who's feedback warrants more attention, a couple of people who help supervise or the mass of people who frequent this forum? Everyone's opinions matter, if you thought it should only be discussed with the Moderators you could've just taken it to PM.

re: Notice / Inquiries |

I firmly believe that, due in large part to the system of government present on the forums. But I won't go arguing about that here.
People respect you, not me. Whatever my thoughts on the matter may or may not be, the question's been answered. Not happening.

I was just thinking, it'd be pretty nice if somewhere in the forum header there could be links to Soul Silver and Heart Gold like there is for Diamond and Pearl. In fact they could be removed and then replaced by them, considering they don't need any help to gain traffic. While the remakes of the second generation are getting closer to release, a couple of days for Japan, and it'd be nice to make sure everyone knows about the forums.

No Mia, I am not an idiot or contradictory to my own words. I am the one who has been promoting that they need all the traffic they can get as they develop in preparation for release in English.
Thank you Boo. | |
