Ooc: we get these things called Pokecoupons, which we can use to buy things, as well as those Pokedollars. Though Pokecoupons are only useable at Mount Battle, kind of like the Battle Points at the Battle Frontier, and as Micheal stated a while back, we can choose a johto starter if we wish. Micheal "to the others": here in Orre, we have double-battles, unless fighting a wild pokemon.

Micheal: Yes. Oh, you want to know how I came across the Shadow Lugia?

Micheal: Yeah, I have heard of him. He lost in the semi-finals of the Indigo League's tournament, I believe.
Brandon: So, how do you have the Shadow Lugia?
Micheal: Long story. Cipher had found the regular Lugia, which they caught and cloned. Then they tortured the clone until it turned into this. They gave it to their leader, and I snagged, or caught, it when I went to Citidark Isle the first time. I then blew up Cipher's machines and set the regular Lugia free. No-one knows why they didn't torture it and turn it into a Shadow pokemon too. Unfortunately, I was a minute too late to reverse the Shadowfication, which is what I call the opposite of Purification. This is the one Pokemon that is impossible to purify.
Brandon: Wow.
Micheal: I told you it was a long story.

Micheal: Thanks. Hey, why don't you guys battle the gym leader here in Orre? In Phenac City.

Micheal: I dunno. It's been a long time since we last battled. All I remember is that he has a Cacturne and five other pokemon.
Brandon: Well, I'm ready for it. Let's go.
Micheal: He doesn't give you a badge, because we don't have a Pokemon league here.
"Brandon laughs".
Brandon: Micheal, it's not true. That Mount Battle challenge thing was about as easy as a league tournament.
Micheal: Oh, yeah? I heard you and May got knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Orange League, and Aiden the round before.
Brandon: True.

Brandon: Indeed. Micheal, are we going to challenge this guy or not?
Micheal: Oh, right. Of course. Come on, let's head to Phenac City.

Brandon: That would be me.
