I don't know why all of a sudden he talked in Jak 2, but maybe since he was pissed off because of all the torture he exploded. It does make the game better I think.

You guys got all wrong! Jak can talk but the problem is he doesnt want to. In the beginnig of the game when jak and daxter go to misty island and approuch the dark eco pool, jak sees that little object that turns red. Then daxter asks him: "Whoa! what is that?", then Jak nearly said something like I don't know but he just went "err...". theres your answer now stop asking the stupid damn old question.

He WAS mute at one time because in 2 Daxter says, "Maybe this guy's a mute like you were." However, this makes no sense considering the fact that Samos and Daxter both ask Jak to talk before this. I'm thinking that maybe he can only grunt or mutter stuff (since he does in 1) and he couldn't actually speak normally.

I first played this game when i was about 5 or 6, and my friend thought Jak couldn't speak because he was Polish!!

I totally agree. The fact that he doesn't talk builds his character. Rather than knowing all about his personality, we get to paint our own image of it. Also, we get to think about what he might say and build a bond with him that you couldn't if he talked.

I also agree with this. Besides, there is a possibility that Jak was also able to talk in the first game, but he is just constantly getting interrupted so doesn't say anything.

Ugh, all of you stop it. It is very simple. In Jak 2: Renegade, Daxter refers to the fact he used to be mute, but due to the Dark Eco injected into him, it gave him the ability to talk. The reason his dialogue was a agressive was because of the Dark Eco as well. He calmed down in Jak 3, because he was used to the Dark Eco. There. That's your explanation.

well actually he calmed down in 3 because he was given the light eco which balanced him and to those of you who tried to quote jak 2 its "maybe this guys a mute, like you used to be"
