GameMaker can make basically any 2D game with the right scripts, and 3D games are possible (though they lag and don't usually work very well). RPG Maker XP just isn't built for that kind of thing. It could probably be done, but it wouldn't be worth the effort and (most probably) money that it would take. GameMaker is the better program to use for the kind of thing you're looking for (RTS games), not to mention the fact that it's free, and buying it for advanced features is 1/6 of the cost of RMXP.

That's what I thought. A game like Age of Empires or Majesty (my favorite computer game of all time, but it gave me a virus ) would be next to impossible to make in RMXP, I think. With Game Maker, it could probably be done much more easily. Ask around for some tips for learning GMSS (Game Maker Scripting System), or ask for some help in making it.

Eh... Yes, GML. I haven't used GameMaker since a camp last summer, and we didn't use GML at all. I visited the forums once or twice, but never really did anything. I'm allowed to get confused, right?
