re: RMXP Map Gallery V |

So, hey, guys. I have this idea for a panorama on the back of this tower I'm making. Basically it'll be in tiers... The whole thing will all be trees and snow, basically a forest background. The top tier will look furthest away, all the trees will be really small, and it'll go in phases up to the bottom where the trees appear smallest. This way, when you go up the tower, the panorama seems further away, but still keeps the same look/feel of the game.

Okay, so humor me on this one. I made this in about two minutes to check if the idea would look at least passable. This is NOT a detail test, I know the map looks like shit, what I need an opinion on is how the panorama looks in reference to the tower. Size and all. Is it something I should waste my time on?

Erm... Yes. It looks good. I actually thought you had mapped that into the background... Didn't think you were using a paranorma

Despite a drop in texture quality, i think the panorama worked pretty well. The ledge should be removed though, and the panorama should be a little more unique. toss in a different style here and there, rather than copy-pasting it.

That panorama is brilliant. It's really simple, but it really make the tower feel as though it's up there. Nice job.

I'm guessing the Panorama was made by having blank characters then using the mode seven script with an environment with trees like that then screenshotting it. To give it that tilt effect. That's pretty smart I'll add it to my notes. :3

Ummm... I don't think he used Mode 7 for anything... I mean, it looks like a normal map

I -wish- what I did was that complicated. I made a long line of trees and underbrush with all the details included, took a screenshot of it, and then reduced the size to 25%

No. If what you did was that complicated, then nothing would ever get done

Does someone know how the 'lantern in a dark room' effect on the player is achieved?

quote jaydenfoxHow is it complicated. Keep a separate project file with Mode 7 in it. Have all the actors blank. Now whenever you want a background like that you go into the project after mapping. Screenshot in-game. Paste into paint. Then clean it up. You unintentionally gave me a good idea and for that you deserve a cookie. :3

Anyone good at mapping church exteriors? I suck at it and need some examples. I'm gonna try in a bit, maybe get an opinion or two.
