After Denzel's parents were killed (during the Meteor incident), and he got Geostigma, he ended up wandering for a while with other sick orphans.
He found Cloud's bike at the church, took Cloud's phone, and called the last number (Tifa's number) ... and the rest is history.

Tifa saved Denzel, and now she (and Cloud) look after him.

That's the only relationship between them.
Cloud is sorta the 'unofficial' father of Denzel.

Denzel sees Cloud as a role model.
He wants to help and protect people just like Cloud does.

Nope, Marlene is not Aerith's sister. She just calls her sister because they were close friends during FFVII.

Marlene is Barret's adopted daughter.

Squeenix got lazy and didn't explain how Tifa found him.
He passed out after the phone call, then woke up in Tifa's house. XD

did u guy's see the "family photo?" you could consider Tifa, Cloud, Marlene, and Denzel as a family. they certainly seem to operate that way, the only thing different is that the kids call the adults by their first name instead of mom and dad

I though his parents were killed in sector 7. In ACC when he uses Clouds phone and calls his parents, its says that the call to sector 7 can not be completed. it then shows a shot of sector 7. i though that was Denzels house, and you can see the photo of him and his parents, as well as a foot belonging to a female sticking out of the rubble

Cloud and Tifa are Denzel's new parents. Simple as that. Together with Marlene they form a family of 4.
