Oblivion Map

Hi,
before I lost my hard drive, I had an Oblivion map, I think it was an executable, that had a series of check boxes to hide/unhide the cities, forts, shrines etc... and kept a record of each one you had visited. I seem to have lost it. Does anyone know what I am referring to??

regards
Peter......

re: Oblivion Map

I'm not aware of that map. The in-game map is the only one I know that unhides locations as you visit them. Sounds an interesting addition though.

The desktop map that I use shows all locations, without names, but there are name lists to highlight and identify a particular location.

To download if interested, click on the map here:-

It's 56K friendly as well, something the WIKI map definitely is not.

re: Oblivion Map

well im glad someone seems to recall it. It is probably THE best map I have come across, and especially useful when you are trying to visit the 9 shrines. It had no oblivion gates, but thats no problem. Biggest plus was that you could show, eg, all the caves, and when you had visited one just select it and it would remain highlighted, so you could see at a glance whether you had actually been inside it, whereas the ingame map highlights it as soon as you have found it. After a while its hard to remember whether or not you had explored, especially if you need to come back because it is a quest!!!. Which reminds me, each place on this map also showed you on hover, what quest it was linked to!!!
keep searching........

re: Oblivion Map

ps sitruc.... thats not a bad map either, in fact it is very very similar apart from the fact that it wont let you tag visited places, but very nice indeed thanks for the link.

ok i found it... i had it archived elsewhere. Here is the link, but the site is in Polish (although map is in english)
contact me if you need me to upload it somewhere.

I've been to probably all places by now, doing areas and going round-in-circles until the ghost image on the compass turned to 'located'. That map would have been very helpful and have saved me redoing areas. A few locations in the mountains I could well have missed.

Yes I would like the link anyway please, and I'm sure others would. Could you copy and paste the link in your reply, (right click the address in the IE page, copy, and paste ... which I'm sure you already knew how, apologies).

I'm pretty sure there isn't yet a specific place on the forum to have useful links such as that, a Polish page doesn't matter.

re: Oblivion Map

woooooooo... the Polish link did not appear to work
http://elderscrolls.phx.pl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=681&Itemid=587

BUT.... I have tracked another source and you can download it here:
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?id=18&view=OblivionUtilities.Detail

Enjoy it... it makes life so much easier. If you have more than one character, you may want to use a different copy for each, as I dont know how to clear the visited sites easily.

regards
Peter

re: Oblivion Map

Great, the second link worked ok for me. It's got Shivering Isles too added in this latest version apparently.

Download info:-
Planetelderscrolls works ok. Need to login though, but it's free membership like here, then click the map link which takes you to Fileplanet ... and just use your same login there as at Planetelderscrolls, and that takes you to the direct download.

When I get around to doing Shivering Isles, it should be a good asset.

Many thanks.
