I was talking to Mr. Mod, and he gave me permission to open a general thread devoted to discussing your character's setup, appearance, stats, trends, et cetera. Discussions, comparisons, questions, all are welcome here, so long as they are related directly to character building.

My second of two games, one I just began looks something like this:
Name: Smae (just typed it at random)
Level: 1 (I just started!)
Class: Ninja (custom class, basically a Thief with Alteration and Illusion as added major skills)

I joined the Thieves' Guild, but was immediately cast out for accidently pick-pocketting a fellow guild member. Meh, I didn't like them anyway! They don't let you murder anyone! So I just got started with the Rufio-assassination, and my induction into the Brotherhood.

So how about you guys? Do you like to use a pre-made class, or make your own custom class? Do you write out descriptions and everything, or just throw together your favorite skills?

I have 3 characters:

Sonja the Red - Level 8 Female Nord default Warrior with bright red hair. Currently wearing a full set of sexy Blades armour and armed with the Chillrend sword. Born under the sign of the Warrior.

Sylphadae - Level 3 (due to save game difficulties) Female Woodelf default Thief. I miss the totally black eyes. Wearing full set of leather armour and armed with Blaze bow (+15 fire dmg) and silver arrows and 8 Burning arrows. Born under the sign of the Thief.

Gothique - Level 1 Female Breton Custom Mage (Wizzard - All the magic types and alchemy) Wearing Mystic Dawn robes and hood. No weapons, apart from magic. Born under the sign of the one that gives a bonus of 50 to magicka.

I've (pretty much) only used two custom classes in my entire history of playing TES, III and IV alike:

Ninja - a thief/assassin hybrid, used the combat skills of an assassin with the stealth and cunning of a thief. I also added magic skills in Alteration and Illusion, to enhance my ninja-ness.

My wood elf Smae is a ninja, and since I just joined the Brotherhood, he has a really cool outfit to boot. Usually if I don't use one of those two, I tend to be a Spellsword/Battlemage.

He's not a real ninja though.

I have an Assassin, called Arazul. He's level 25 and currently wears half of Umbra's Ebony armour and half a set of enchanted Daedric armour. Just waiting to enchant the rest of my Daedric armour before he starts wearing it. He's Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, Gray Fox of the Thieves Guild, Master of the Fighters Guild, Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild, Knight-Errant of the Knights of the White Stallion and a Brother in the Vampire Slayers Order.

Haven't completed the main quest yet, been exploring lately...

I just orderd this tonight im thinkin of going a kind of stealthy guy (as always) but not sure on race yet. I like goin the human types but the annimals are more steath suited i dont want to go a sneky nord again.

Any ideas what race i should chose?

Look at the racial benefits, decide what you think may suit you. I went as an Imperial, just because I fancied it. Got two other characters though, Breton and Dark Elf.

The Dark Elf was probably more suited to my Assassin type than the Imperial, but I don't care.

Tried to save my mom's character and it overwrote my game. How do I save seperate characters for her game and mine?

Click New Save, or open the console and type save [name].

Breton Battlemage, basically boosted his attribute gains to +5s in all the levels before 12, so his Strength and Endurance caught up. Reminds me of a Paladin, except I sit there and block while my conjuration dishes a beating onto whatever I'm fighting.
