re: Calling all mages, do you wear armor?

All this time I never knew why there is that "spells 95% effective" line on my spells pages. I guess it is the heavy armour. I chose heavy armour and 6 magics as my major skills. I didn't realise that armour would reduce spellcasting effectiveness. If I knew then what I know now, I think I would have gone with light armour (elven looks like it kicks ass) and block and 5 magics. As it is, I don't think the armour is holding me back much now. I'm still slow, but now at level 20 I'm zapping things a couple times with 12x5 fire or lightning while then run at me, then finishing them with a couple blows from an axe. The dread zombie is the only single monster that can make me retreat and keep shooting. More than one Clannfear is a bit of trouble though because my agility is so low that they knock me down.

I can't imagine standing up to a daedroth without any armour. How can you strike them dead before they get to you? Once they get to you how do you keep from being overwhelmed?

TJ works.

And later in the game you can use Fortify Magicka to raise your magic. Then use a Welkynd stone to fill it all the way. You should then be able to cast all those crazy spells that waste all your magic.
