Did anyone have these problems? I wait for hours and the spies don't show up. This is the main quest. THanks!!!

I waited all over the place. Near the rune stone, above the rune stone by 2 or 3 different rocks. Does it matter where I wait? THank you!

I just went to Bruma and asked around. Then broke into there house. In other quests if you use the wait option (T key) people don't show up. If you are doing it this way, try just going there and let time pass normally.

I asked around in Bruma, but the only one who mentions Jearl is the guy sitting near her house. I waited normally (boring!) and they never showed up. I broke into her house and went into the basement and cave and just found a few rats. Where did you wait?
I appreciate any help, since I cannot go on with the main quest.

It's been a long time since I did that quest, so my info is coming from memory and might not be 100%. The captain of the guard also talks to you about the spies. I think I broke into the house around dusk. Both spies were in the house and immediately attacked me. I would just try breaking in to the house at different times of the day.

I tried breaking into the house at all hours, talking to all captains, but nothing triggers a conversation about Jearle. Did anyone have this problem and solved it?

did you remember to talk to Jaureffe ? I mean other people mention the spies and where to find em, but only Jaureffe activates the quest =P.

Talk to captain burd in Bruma. Also talk to beggars about "strangers in town". Actually, talk to the beggar 1st then captain burd 2nd.

Did captain Burd give you permission to search the house? If not, maybe you need to get him to like you more.

I maxed the disposition with Burd and he just said he had nothing new to report. I am at my wits end... unfortunately I cannot go on with the main quest. I even started the whole thing with a new character and had the same problem. Weird... But thank you for trying

It never triggered the dialogue "strangers in town" with the beggars. I think this is the problem, but don't know how to fix it. Any ideas someone?
