re: Mods

Assuming it is just a simple mod with only an esp file, then just put the esp file in the Oblivion Data folder. When you start up Oblivion, go to Data Files before starting your game and click on the box next to that esp file to make sure it is active.

Start your game and the mod should be active.

Now, if there are more files such as textures or meshes, then you need to put all of those folders in your Data folder and click on Yes if prompted to overwrite. Follow the same steps as above to activate the mod and you are all set.

There are some more advanced mods that require a script extender or Oblivion Mod Manager to run. If it is one of those, let us know and we can go from there.

Hope this helps.

re: Mods

Where ever it is you installed Oblivion, usually in,

C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion

That'll change though depending on the harddrive you installed it to.

re: Mods

In the oblivion directory there should be a folder named Data, if not make one, put it all in there.

re: Mods

You should definitely have a Data folder. That is where all the textures, meshes, music, etc. are located; not to mention all of your default esp and bsa files. As BeZ said, it should be in your Oblivion folder. There should be another folder inside called Data. This is where you will put any mod files. There should already be such a folder as part of the default installation of the game.

If you don't have a Data folder, this indicates a bigger problem.

What do you mean by simple mod? Like weapon mods or character face mods?

A simple mod would be something like a weapon, or armor, and is also usually a script. An advanced mod would be something more along the lines of a house.

re: Mods

Actually a simple mod would be more like placing a weapon in existance somewhere, an advanced mod would be one which creates a totally new weapon which looks completly different and so would need new textures and meshes.
