Oblivion's file path?

Okay this is kind of complicated..

I have had my computer for a while now, when I first got it it had 1 hard drive and a DVD drive in it.
I then bought another hard drive, making that drive drive E

I installed Oblivion on drive E, drive C is the other hard drive which I use for my operating system. The DVD drive was drive D.

I reformatted my computer earlier today, and I have found that my second HDD's drive letter has changed to D, and the DVD drive to E.

The Oblivion Launcher can't find the .exe, and wont let me re-enable my mods, and thus can't load my game.

Any tips?

I know I either need to change my drive's drive letter back - or change the Oblivion file path.

re: Oblivion's file path?

It should just be a matter of going to the shortcut, going to the target and changing the "E:/" to "D:/". Or you could go to the oblivion folder itself and try launching the game from there and seeing if it works. If it doesn't work from the folder then the target change won't work either...

re: Oblivion's file path?

Gathering that when you reformatted you did not wipe the drive, the filepath will just now be on D as D:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Oblivion.exe, which you should be able to directly use to play the game. OblivionLauncher.exe should also be located in the same directory. However, assuming you are using a shortcut to OblivionLauncher.exe from your desktop or start menu, in the Properties change the E:\ to D:\ in the Target box and it should work fine.

re: Oblivion's file path?

I fixed the problem, I had to reinstall in the exact same location and it just changed the files. I couldn't find any .ini's with the file path in them.

R3s + Stray - I was having trouble with the actual .exe not knowing where the oblivion folder was. Not with shortcuts.

As in, the Launcher didn't know where the Oblivion folder was or where the Oblivion.exe was.
So when I ran the game directly none of my mods were enabled ('cause it didn't know where they were) and my save file couldn't be loaded because it used mods.
I couldn't enable the mods because the launcher had no idea where any of my files were.

re: Oblivion's file path?

well ya did say it couldn't find the .exe not that the .exe was having problems in your first post . Anyways, I am guessing it must have needed a change somewhere else but if you got oblivion working then it doesn't really matter anymore... does it =P.

That's because the .exe wasn't having problems, the launcher was. The launcher that enables mods.
