re: A Few Quick Questions

Normal play with using the attributes you have as Majors ... blade, block, light armour etceteras ... is 51.

Though if choose your 7 Majors as the ones that you that you do not use (so that the 7 majors do not receive the bonus that the Major normally gets - so keeping all Majors at level 25) ... then the max level possible will be 53. Normal play again.

... 7 Majors at 25, so 7 x 75 empty, = 525 empty levels ... divide by 10 for each level-up = 52 plus the 1st starting level gives you 53 max.

Talking about normal game-play here.

Anyway level 51 is plenty to enable you to be maxed-out in all that you want, and then some.

... Level 51, 100 in all but Luck and Personality which I have little need of. 14 Master levels last time I looked, and am unbeatable in any situation. < trumpet fanfare >

re: A Few Quick Questions

as I said you can't go higher than 255

that is the absolute max!

you can go higher than 100, but not higher than 255

re: A Few Quick Questions

Wow, that's a lot of levels...Thanks for the information!

Okay, another question- when a spell says that it is 'bound' something, such as 'bound dagger' or 'bound helmet', exactly what effect does that have as a spell?

And another question- I'm doing the Benirus Manor quest, and I've found the guy that sold it to me. In my quest update, it said that I had to convince him to come back to the manor with me, but even when using a powerful charm spell, he still doesn't agree to it. What should I do?

re: A Few Quick Questions

Bound spells just summon daedric armour that have enchantments on it for fortifying certain skills/attributes. The armour is weightless and has the same AR as normal daedric armour hasn't got a large lifespan. It is good for low levels but doesn't last long due to being a spell.

Make sure that you have killed off all the ghosts and picked up the note and the hand from the broken urn. Then speak to him

Also this may not help much if you didnt know but while the skeloton key is with you it increases your security by 40, you can still level but if your over 60 security before you get the skeloton key the game will asume you are at 100 already and you wont be able to level security unless you get rid of the skeloton key

re: A Few Quick Questions

shadowj- Ahh, okay, I see. And I'll double check all that stuff and try again. Thanks!

mls212- Yeah, I knew about that. Sort of annoying, but for locks that I just can't do, and when I've run out of normal lockpicks, the Skeleton Key can still come in handy.

Is there a particularly good method for killing Will-o-the-Wisps? I'm finding them quite difficult to handle, and was wondering whether any attacks are more effective.

They don't have any weaknesses to any particular type of magic. You do need to have an enchanted or silver weapon to fight them, however. Normal weapons won't work on them.

re: A Few Quick Questions

Seems to me that I have been unable to affect them with poison, paralyze, and silence (and of course no normal weapons), but any weapon that will damage a ghost or wraith will also damage a wisp. If you have a weapon with elemental damage, hit them with a weakness to magic & weakness to that element on their way in, and you will do some decent damage when they get to you.

Wisps in motion will often show as small dust motes, and itcan be hard to keep track of them, however detect life shows them quite clearly in this form.

Wisps have no melee or range attacks, so Bretons and people with the Atronach star sign can use potions (or several devices) of resist/absorb magic to become fairly immune to them. Their attack appears to be an absorb health, so I am not sure if Spellbreaker or other reflect items will work, but it would be worth testing. As a worst case you should take less damage, and it might give you more health.

ANY Daedric weapon will kill them without any problem. Just a Daedric dagger will do it, or I guess a Daedric arrow (but I haven't tried it). Daedric weapons deal with ghosts and similar also.

I had a message advice box pop up informing me about this.

re: A Few Quick Questions

Okay, I guess I'm just gonna have to keep hacking and slashing my way through them using my enchanted weapons.

Another_Mutant- That sounds like a good idea; using the weakness to magic and the necessary element. I'll give that a go!

Sitruc- I haven't been able to get ahold of any Daedric weaponry yet. I've been looking around for it, but my character's only on level 16, so maybe it just isn't available at the moment.

Thanks for the help!

My Mages staff of fire can kill a WOW in 2 or 3 goes. So it has a weakness to fire. I seem to remember using fire-ball magic on them as well, and it worked. Best not to use an area effect magic spell though because they come in close.

re: A Few Quick Questions

Typhon- Aah, thought so.

Sitruc- Fire? I've got a sword with a fire attack, so I'll give that a go. Thanks for the tip!

Okay, I've got another problem now- in the quest Vahtacen's Secret, I've entered the final room with the artifact in, and gone up the stairs and activated the switch. When I went back down to the middle of the room to activate the stairs, it keeps telling me that the stairs are down remotely. What can I do to make the stairs come down?

Look HERE. It describes the location of the switch.

re: A Few Quick Questions

Aeronut- That's the thing- I found the switch, clicked on it, and went back down expecting to be able to activate the stairs. But it still won't work.
