Muscle Development

Is muscle development specific? By that I mean when you swing a weapon do all your muscles get stronger, or just your arms (like in real life). Same with running, do all the muscles grow or just your legs?

Im thinking about like just "working out" to get really strong and fast and stuff. Then i'll practice swordfighting, arrow shooting and stuff. Peace.

re: Muscle Development

I'd assume the more you run the faster you'll be able to run and the more you swing your sword the harder you'll be able to swing it. Kinda like Athletics in Morrowind, the higher the skill the faster you are. I wonder how archery is going to work... I know you can use bows and that the arrows are unlimited and there is a crosshair to use to aim. But i wonder if the more you use it the steadier your hand gets or the further you can pull it to make the arrow hit harder. Personally i'm not much of a sniper, i like the sword better but If they're putting that much time into muscle development with swords you'd think they put something similar for bows.

re: Muscle Development

Yea but running faster would ruin the experience. I mean, u could just run in circles around your living room all day and suddenly, the next day, u run SUPER fast? I wouldnt like that. I think muscle develpoment (like in real life) takes an awfully alot of time whenever u swing your sword or fight hand-2-hand. And the more experienced and "buff" u are, the more combat moves u learn.

re: Muscle Development

I was wondering the same thing. I think archery would go along with the stealth sytem (if there is one). Like in morrowind how marsmanship was classified as a stealth skill. Im thinking that when you use a bow alot, your arrows do more damage. Because you pull the string back farther or something of that nature.

re: Muscle Development

I figure that archery or marksmanship would rank more into skill that strength. In archery, you need skills to aim the bow, know where the vital spots are when shooting, and to gauge other factors such as wind and other modifiers. Strengh is just an added bonus as it does more damage when pulled back farther.

re: Muscle Development

I doubt that they put in the wind affects of when the arrows are in the air. I don't think that many (if any) games have done that because it would be too hard for the player to fight.

re: Muscle Development

I figured that as well, but just including it. If I have this information figured out correctly, I think that where you put your status upgrade points also effects how you look, such as if you give all you points to combat based abilities, you get more muscles. I could be wrong, but I could be right as well.

re: Muscle Development

even doing stuff like picking up rocks can make you stronger, i read that at bigbluebox.com. and running around a table for one day wont do much for speed, it has to be somthing you use every day of your fable life

Actually, what I meant was that if you gave those points to the combat area, it would aid you in strength, rather than being fully connected to strength in that aspect, although I am starting to have doubts.

re: Muscle Development

Strength: how hard you hit somebody along with a few flourishes. The more you use this attribute the more you will evolve into it. Players earn various different types of Experience through killing enemies, After a enemy is killed a series of orbs are released with these you can be used to buy different levels and abilities: some are passive (like the ability to wear heavier armour) and some are far more active (like the ability to Battle Charge or Berserk).

Visually, Strength gives you size and other related character morphs. On one of the interface screens you can see your Strength bar, which is broken up into chunks - the first notch is level one, the next level two, etc. When you level-up, you’ll see your muscles pop as you go through a full strength morph.

What do you know, I was right, in a sense. Thanks for the confirmation Bubbster.
