Hey, did anyone ever notice that some Doom songs closely relate to real mp3s? For example, in the first Doom, one of the levels (can't remember which) has the same guitar and drums as "Behind the Crooked Cross" by Slayer, then in Doom 2, they use the drums for Slayer's "South of Heaven" for the level 7, "Dead Simple", and Alice in Chains' "Them Bones" for level 23, "Barrels of Fun". Someone verify this for me, and tell me if you've seen any other parallels. Thanks.

Yeah, I noticed that too... listen to Pantera's 'Mouth for War'... if you know Doom you'll recognize the riff.

Yeah i just downloaded that Pantera song, that's pretty kool! It sounds like something out of the Inferno episode, but im not sure. THX!!!

I checked the guitar tablature (written music) for Mouth For War... it's just a tiny bit different from the music from Doom (E3M1, E2M9) but it's WAY too similar to be coincidental. It's probably the least similar of those I know of ('Them Bones' being almost note-for-note).

Any others anyone knows about?

I'm a Slayer fan and indeed, both of those songs were used... Behind the Crooked Cross is used for E3M3 in Doom ...

One good thing to do is fire up Doom, turn the music off and play those songs instead of the midi versions

Has nobody noticed that the E1M1 guitar riff sounds a lot like the start riff in MetallicA's Master of Puppets?

Not as much as E2M1.
