re: Your ideal strategy / fort

Thats a sucky idea your opponet will keep attacking! besides if hes a rusher you won't have enogh time to make fortresses! If i use zues's hoplite rush!

get 8 villagers to make a temple, get the other villager to make the maximum amount of houses get another villagers from my tc get him to help advance in age then get the people to make 9 barracks get 1 perosn on each! get the houses done make an armory and a market then rushing time!
BTW its in DM

re: Your ideal strategy / fort

Well, I usually start off with the Norse and a water based theme (such as the Vindlandsaga or Midgard), just because this is what my tactics are built upon, as you will see:

First, have the Ulsferak (I know I spelt that wrong...) build a dock near a school of fish. Then max out the number of villagers and dwarves you can make at that point in time. Have half of them chop wood and the other half find food from a nearby source, and have the dwarves mine, of course. After you get a couple more docks up and fishing ships on every fish, have all the villagers concentrate on wood and make plenty of Dwarves (around nine or ten would be sufficient).

This is the time to expand your lands and build your army. Kill any unnecessary units to keep your population limit down. Weed out the weak and put in the strong. It is, however, good to have a mixture of both, as myths are not always strong against a particulat unit.

After that, you mercilessly pummel the other town, making sure to have LOTS of relief on the way. Wait until you have a sizable army before leading another charge, as the enemy will easily kill any singles. Concentrate on military type buildings and units first, after that, make your way to the core of the village and destroy the town center. You usually have to ransack them a bit more before they surrender.

that is an interesting idea i think i will try that and fail miserably not that it is a bad idea just that if i play that way i would likely screw up on doing it

re: Your ideal strategy / fort

lol thats a good strategy for norse players, BUT you could only get a few dwarves with your starting funds, meaning your income of gold would be tight to start with....

the greeks are the most balanced, to be fair, wood for buildings and mainly food/gold for upgrades... and your only making the one type of gatherer, if you start your game, build max no. of villagers with starting funds then gather food, and keep churning out villagers, you should really aim for... 9/10 gathering food, 1 building houses/storehourses/granarys, 7/8 chopping and 2/3 gathering gold, as you dont need gold straight away it becomes the least important, using this i have advanced all the time within 10 mins and had at least 2/3 relics to my name, sometimes i have 2/3 worshippers too..

anyway back to topic, the ideal fortress would be ... lol too hard to describe, but i normally only make entrances/exits at chokepoints meaning im surrounded by forests and only a few walls to guard, that way you'll know if anyones attacking you....also when starting a game make sure a villager walls across anywhere, this is useful for the nomad map in particular

re: Your ideal strategy / fort

i'd build some barracks and get some villagers to harvest stuff and get guys with swords and stuff to fight and then make myth units and get 1 hero and get them to fight then i get more guys and get them to fight and stuff like that

re: Your ideal strategy / fort

hmm..well what i do is the following(in the best way of explanation)

i start off by getting atleast 10 villagers, have them build a wall around my area and then another wall around the origional wall(a 2 layer wall basicly) and i upgrade them to stone as soon as i can, then i set up atleast 2 towers on each side of the gates(between the 2 walls i built)
after that i start building the basics(houses, armory, fortress, ect,) i start on creating a "clearing unit" (usually 8 elder cyclopse) and have them clear out a path to the opposing team then i work on a "penetrating unit" to send in and destroy the walls/buildings after the small invasion from my penetrating unit i send in the remaining elder cyclopse,
then i start working on a "rage unit" (more elders and alot of hydras) to finish off anything left of the opponent's destroyed village
as soon

re: Your ideal strategy / fort

i usually play on either team migration or the one with lots of islands, so i quickly get a temple and get to classic age then i'll build a barracks stable and archery range.then as soon as i ge tto the heroic age i build as many town centre's as possible. then i just get lots of troops (both mythical and human) then charge and take down 1 opponant at a time.
