Create a Class Part 1 - [Revamped.Recurring.Revived]



CaC Contest turned into one of those 'I know I'm forgetting something...but I can't remember what...' sort of things. Well, guess what I remembered?



Create a Class
Part 1


What is this?
    A contest to see who can come up with different ideas for jobs in maple story. Any ideas for classes are welcome as long as they are presented correctly and follow the rules, and anybody can enter a class, so have fun!
Instructions
    It's simple, think up something you think would make a great new job in maple story, and post it! Once everybody has had a chance to post theirs, everybody can vote for what they think is the best class!
The Twist
    There's going to be 4 contests like this in total, spanning over a nice chunk of time. To mirror this, your class has to follow certain requirements which are listed below. Each contest will look at a specific stage of a class. By the end, you should have a complete class tree that works. A first job, and at least one 2nd, 3rd, and 4th job that all work together. First up is 1st Job (traditionally levels 10-30), then 2nd Job (30-70), and so on. Your job is not required to follow the traditional level chunks, but they must connect. After the final contest there will be an overall winner picked who participated in all four of the contests who will get 10k NX via me buying a NX Card.
Requirements
    This time around, the challenge is to build a class that is 1st Job. This job does not have to span the exact levels of 10-30, however you do need to state what levels it uses. You cannot submit more than one entry, and entries are due this Tuesday (June 16th)
How to post your job
    You post what levels it is for (Example: 10-30), what weapon it uses, what stats you need for the class, and it's skills. For skills you only need the name of the skill, and what it does at level 1 and at it's max level. There is an example below if you need help understanding.
When it's due
    Tbd. It will be at least 14 days and will be no longer than 42 days.
Voting
    Votes must be sent via this link, it's pre-formatted and such. Categories for voting are as follows:
  • Overall Best
  • Most Balanced
  • Least Balanced
  • Most potential for later jobs
  • Best Idea
  • Most Original
    Rules for Voting:
  • You cannot vote for yourself
  • You can vote for somebody using either their username or job name
  • You cannot vote for the same person twice in a single category
  • The only category you must put votes in for is "Overall Best", the rest are optional.
  • Note: It does matter what order you put your votes in. Please put your first choice first, second choice second.

Sorry, for some reason I thought the goal of this game was to create the best class, which is clearly incorrect if ridiculous entries are considered with equal odds of winning.

Anyway, I'm gonna scour around my computer for one of my old creations, and post it soon if I can find it. If not, I'll have something done within the week.



Remember that there are three other contests building directly off this one. Making a class with that level range is what I'd call 'risky', it could really turn out nicely in the end.

We've gotten a decent amount of entries, so I'm gonna go ahead and set the ending date for submissions to Tuesday. I'll be a bit busy today-sunday, and this last week or so will give those who haven't had the chance to go ahead and enter.

A bit yeah, a couple changes that would make it less OP, these are just suggestions and such.
  • Change the Attack Boost skills to last no more than 60sec at max, or save them until second job and have them last 120-180sec. Or change it to no more than 5min max and give it a cooldown of 15-20min.
  • Max Critical Strike to 25% if you plan on mimicking the attack range of a warrior, unless you want to make sure the class' attack power is nerfed.
  • Summon Spawn max 3 monsters
  • Transform needs a Cooldown, 5min would do it.
  • Ultimate Sacrifice needs a cooldown of like, 30min+. I'd save it for 3rd job+ really.
  • Kill the cooldown on Death Charge, it doesn't really need one.
  • Give death blow a % damage instead of an instant kill, something like 400% would do it for the HP/MP loss, but it would probably work better as a general attack move, killing some MP and possibly HP do to 200% damage at max or something.
  • Having Ultimate Sacrifice and Death Blow currently makes you invincible. You use DB, then spam US. That's even more OP than bishops, which isn't good since this is 1st job.
Next job advancements are later contests btw, so you can start them, but they're not for this thread

2nd job+ submissions have to wait, those are later contests. If you save them in a text/word file you'll be fine.

A technical note on that -
Attack speed is a total of 5 numbers, 2 = Slow, 3 = Normal, 4 = Fast, etc.
