Er. How long does it take to actually pertify the enemy? I've waited like 10 turns, with nothing happening.

Gradual Petrification should be renamed "Slowing Petrification"
In other words, it doesn't actually petrify them, but it slows them ( at least, it does in FFIV ) ------------------- ![]() | |

Ive only seen it on my own chars. (sad) but after yur attacked by a monster that can hurt u like that yur char gets petrified for wat looks like no reson at first but then yur all like oh yeah.... crap.

Provokedtrees is incorrect, that's an onhit petrify, which is not gradual petrification. To be gradually petrified, cast Break (not Breakga, as that's instant petrification) on your own party. I'm pretty sure only players can inflict it, as I'd have remembered if anything else can.
