I dont think so, from what I remember you just talk to a moogle and look where it says friend code (I'm just trying to remember my friend has my FF3 so I haven't played in a while)

Yes, you go to the address book and there's the option: Display your friend code. But then it asks if you're ready to start wi-fi connection, I said "no" and it went back. That's why I'm asking if I need wi-fi.

Yeah, you're going to need wi-fi in order to find out what your friend code is.
