Can't really tell if it's going to be USC and the Nine Dwarves again in the Pac-10. Cal looked good against Maryland, but how much does that say this year?

I think it's going to be BYU vs. Florida for the National Championship.
I'm pretty sure Florida will make it through their schedule undefeated, they're just a pure powerhouse. LSU and whoever they play for the SEC championship will be their only big challenge (most likely Alabama). As for BYU, they got the big bump for beating Oklahoma and now it's just going to be smooth sailing for them. As for everyone else with a chance, everyone in the Big 12 has a hard schedule, and USC hard schedule. Ohio State is going to get raped by USC, so unless the other contenders get one loss, they have no chance. A lot of the major contenders in the ACC seem to be ranked pretty close to each other, so it's likely each one of them will have at least one loss as well. The only other teams I see with a good chance are Penn State and Cal. Penn State might be able to make it through, if they don't lose to Ohio State. If Cal can pull of a win against USC, then they're almost sure to be in it. I know this is pretty crazy to be talking about all this stuff this early, but it seems pretty easy to predict already. -------------------

I hope BYU runs the table and gets snubbed for the National Championship. Those would be some fun times.

I had BYU as a sleeper for the title game before the season started, and that win against Oklahoma certainly helps their chances. The fact that they play their toughest two remaining opponents, TCU and Utah, also help their chances a ton. However, something tells me Utah's going to get up for that game at the end of November, especially if they have a chance to knock off BYU and their shot at a title and their own season is a wash.

Can't believe Oklahoma State lost to Houston... It'll be interesting to see what Houston ends up being ranked. I'm disappointed by their performance after beating the Bulldogs.
I'm surprised at how close Ohio State vs USC was. I was expecting for Ohio State to come out to play like they had something to prove after their mediocre win last week, but I didn't think it would be that close. Georgia vs South Carolina was a great game. Lot's of big plays and lucky breaks for both teams, especially on special teams. My favorite defensive player for the dawgs ended up being the reason we won (Rennie Curran) -------------------

LOL at ESPN popping boners over Michigan saying "they're back" for beating an overrated Notre Dame team (a team that everyone knew was overrated to begin with). Lets see how they handle Ohio State and Penn State and then we'll reassess that outrageous assumption. Another LOL at Lee Corso's dumbass claiming that Clausen was a serious contender for the Heisman after their first win and now he won't touch that subject. What an unknowledgable douche.
When Boise puts themselves in a conference that actually has talent, I'll give them their respect. Until then, going undefeated while beating up on severely inferior opponents doesn't impress me.

I've witnessed my Seminoles get raped by the Canes and nearly lose to Jacksonville in person, I'm calling the season over for us right now.

quote RubenWay too soon to give up. Sure, if they get rolled by BYU, then lose to South Florida and BC, go ahead and toss in the towel. I'll bet you'd be singing a different tune if they figure out a way to win Saturday night, though. quote KyLeDaWgIf Houston can knock off Texas Tech and Mississippi State in the coming weeks, we'll have another contender for undefeated mid-maj...ahem, non-BCS team. quote Mr Matthews48Better brace yourself for the next six weeks of hype until the showdown with Penn State; Michigan's next six opponents don't really have much derailing potential for Big Blue's comeback train. Normally, I'd think playing at MSU would be a challenge, but the Spartans just lost to Central Michigan.

After hearing all the flame Jim Tressel is getting this week, and after seeing Ohio State play against USC, I've decided that this decade's version of Ohio State is last generation's version of Nebraska, and Tressel is this years Tom Osbourne:
That's Nebraska Pre-1994. Well, maybe 1992 even. Being a member of the Cornhusker marching band, and an avid fan of Husker football, I can tell you that the comparrison's between Osbourne's squads of the 1970's, 80's and early 90's were almost in the same situation Tressel is in right now at Ohio State. Nebraska, like OSU, played in the old Big 8, where there were two dominant teams in Nebraska and Oklahoma, and the other 6 teams were some of the worst teams in football. So Nebraska beat up on a bunch of cupcake teams all season, played one tough regular season game against OU, and then would play a florida school in the bowl game and get outspeeded in the bowl game. Sound Familiar? Tressel has built a team that has dominated the Big 10 for hte last decade, and his winning percentage is incredible. But now, because he can't win the national championship, or because he's getting beat by some really good teams every year, people want him gone. This sounds just like what happened with TO back in the day, where anything less than 10 wins was considered a failed season. I guess my point then, is Buckeye fan needs to take a lesson from Husker fan here. Your day in the sun will come. It came for Osbourne, and it will come AGAIN for you under Tressel. Just wait. Because once Sweatervest is gone? You better hope you hire the best. All it takes is one bad coaching hire. So stop griping, and wait it out. -------------------

Hear hear. If the Buckeyes had lost to Navy and/or gotten blown out by USC, the vitriol may be deserved. Losing more than once in the next seven games...again, grounds for rabid griping. (Many fans would take exception to even losing one game out of the next seven, but crap can happen, and does happen. Oklahoma State comes to mind.)
So...take a deep breath, Buckeye fans, and look forward to the likely beatdown you'll administer to Michigan yet again to end the season. And a decent shot at the Rose Bowl.

Houston has had an explosive offense for the past few years. You can get in to UH games for free with a student ID, and my friend has like 3 of them so I go from time to time. Their defense is obviously suspect so I wasn't surprised when OSU came back and made it a game.
Very good win for the UH program, because it's depressing that they were once an NCAA basketball powerhouse and pretty decent football program that went completely down the drain.

Canes put the whoopin' down on #14 Ga Tech tonight. I actually went down to see the game since I'm already down for the Fins Monday Night game and it was pretty damn exciting, the student section was fackin nuts-- as it is everywhere.

The students will be even crazier when Oklahoma comes to visit, especially if Miami's knocked off VT in the meantime.
[thoughtful look] The ACC champ hasn't been a major player in the national championship discussion since FSU's heyday in the late 90s and early 00s (okay, VT in 07-08). If Miami knocks off VT and Oklahoma, I'd start considering them as a dark horse to run the table. Whether that gets them more than an Orange Bowl berth...

It depends on what Bradford is doing when Oklahoma comes to town, and I seriously have no faith in VT at all as a team so I'm not sure how much stock I would put a victory over them when talking about a national title shot.
