PSP RPGs |
|
So, my girlfriends brother is gonna sell me his PSP for $50 (good deal yes?)
I love playing RPGs on handhelds, and I want to know some good ones to check out for PSP. I know about Crisis Core and the new FFT which I'll definitely be getting, but what else is out there in the RPG genre that I should check out? ------------------- quote Every ignorant dumbshit on Neoseeker

This all depends on what you've played.
If you've missed out on ANY Final Fantasy from 1-9.(Except 3.) You can play those on your PSP with a Custom Firmware. I just finished FF7 about a week ago. Otherwise, the PSP is not your console for RPG's unless you're playing other consoles like SNES or GBA on it. ------------------- ![]()

The only RPG's I've played for the PSP are Tales Of Eternia:Radiant Mythology which you'll probably get bored with after a week and Crisis Core which is a very wise choice.

Outside of homebrew possibilities, there aren't really many RPGs for the PSP. The best I say you can go is Valkryie Profile.

re: PSP RPGs |

depends on if you like western rpgs (as in dungeon crawlers with active combat mechanics, and more elves and orcs and that kind of thing) or eastern rpgs (turn-based battels and animu characters).
my favorite western rpgs are valhalla knights silverfall (youll have to import it from europe i believe) dungeon siege: throne of agony (probably hard as hell to find by now) x-men legends 2 and the incredibly overlooked dungeons and dragons tactics <3 good eastern rpgs: brave story, new traveler popolocrois (rather easy, and kinda slow paced, but VERY charming and enjoyable to play) tales of the world: radiant mythology disgae: afternoon of darkness of course, monster hunter freedom 2. -------------------

I suggest:
Final Fantasy Dissidia (Not out) Final Fantasy I: Anniversary Edition Final Fantasy II: Anniversary Edition Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Not out) Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of The Lions Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (Not out) Marvel: Ultimate Alliance X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse Ste Guitar - III is possible with the English patch. I recommend the old version versus the DS. ------------------- ![]() - Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days - Final Fantasy Dissidia - MegaMan Star Force 3: Black Ace/Red Joker -

quote balldog39This is one that will pop up a lot. I honestly don't have a clue why it's only been mentioned once here. It's fantastic, has hundreds of hours of gameplay, you fight massive monsters with an array of weapons, there is extremely deep customization. The forum gets over 900 posts per day, so it must be good. And it is! Thing is, it's very hard and you might not like it. Maybe try before you buy. You could hire Monster Hunter Freedom 1, then get the second if you like it. Do you like Dungeon Siege? That on PSP is pretty good. Long too, very long. -------------------

Breath of Fire 3 is excellent and I dunno why anyone has missed this out, definitely get it considering it's cheap. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is another good port by Square-Enix (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc). There is a Tales game, I believe it is Tales of Eternia; I'm assuming this will be fairly decent either way due to their history. There's the Final Fantasy I & II remakes, each worth a pick up considering their cheap price. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions is an excellent RPG-strategy and if you're a fan of that, I believe there is a Disgaea game on the PSP which is quite similar in gameplay. They are pretty much all the traditional RPGs on the console (excluding Valkyrie Profile, but it's pretty close) that I know of; most of the other games mentioned are just action-adventure games laced with RPG features - Monster Hunter Freedom being an example, a game I don't particularly like. I'm guessing there's gunna be quite a few Japanese releases that haven't reached us, take a look into that.
On a short budget, I recommend Breath of Fire 3 and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. -------------------
