Is there something wrong with the custom firmware?

My psp has a custom firmware(best described , it has a "ChickHEN" folder) .... it takes 2-3 times to enable the CFW enabler(without pics and music).. but when i store some music and pics ,it takes almost forever to enable that.. could someone guide me through this problem ..oh and i have to delete everytime pics and songs and have to restore default settings..

re: Is there something wrong with the custom firmware?

friend of mine uses the Hen FW, and he says that the more memory spaace you have on the MS, the quicker it gets enabled.
dunno if its true or not, but you could try that out.

Yes, that should work fine.
Although you may need to have the HEN card in the PSP if you put it to sleep. Are you able to install custom firmware?

Yes.

re: Is there something wrong with the custom firmware?

So you're not using ChickHEN anymore? Because if you still are then you haven't installed custom firmware yet.
What model PSP do you have?

Yes.

The files required are called firmware. They are the operating system of the PSP, and custom firmware files are different than the Sony firmware files. They are installed on the PSP's internal memory.

but does chickHEN fall into that category?
ChickHEN is an exploit that allows you to load programs that are not encrypted. HEN stands for Homebrew Enabler.
It is not Custom Firmware, as the files on the PSP's internal memory are not changed.
You have a PSP-3000, which cannot have any custom firmware installed on it or else the PSP would stop working.

A PSP with Custom Firmware installed to its internal flash is able to do many things a HEN PSP cannot:
  • Boot into Custom Firmware, without messing with all that ChickHEN nonsense first
  • Have extensive custom themes installed to the Firmware
  • Run later firmwares, and trick Sony into thinking it has official firmware
  • Run in a stable environment where crashing is very rare
  • Recover from a bad flash write using a Pandora battery.
