I'm not sure many people who post here are actively playing. I haven't had a mage type character in a pretty long time, so I don't know much about the spells and such. But I do know that after they changed the formula, luck can actually lead to higher damage, so a lot of mage types have dumped Dex for luck.

would like another rating/advice session.

I know it hasn't been long, but only one person offered advice last time.

re: Character Rating House & Advice [11]

HI guys, I played again today after 137 days of nothing so I thought Id shake up one of my characters a bit to keep me interested for some time.

this is him:

http://guardian.battleon.com/Build30/charview.asp?temp=45732290

Im considering dumping the nerfkitten (its the lvl 50 one) and go for the 60 cha token line up (lil death, dynamo, razor claw and ice rhino)

that will losen quite a few stat points to put in either luck or dex, rite now Im leaning towards dex since imma have to change to some dex weapons as I get to higher lvl weps, and some extra blocking and melee bth doesnt hurt.

I know many people here like the nerfkitten builds but Id like some advice on this anyway. The main issue I guess is if the bth gain from the stat points will make up for the enemies bth loss due to nerfs, what do yall think? Does anybody run the token line up now?

Also, is the zale broadsword lvl 89 worth while or should one go for the dynazaber Z (lvl 68), anyone got any experience with either?

re: Character Rating House & Advice [11]

If you are looking for bth, then Luck is just as good as Dex for Melee attacks.

For Melee attacks:
200 Str + 90 Dex = +18 bth

200 Str + 90 Luk = +17 bth

90 Luck brings with it +45 random damage on lucky strikes, as well as a better chance of going first and resisting opponent's abilities such as poisoning and sleep. It also increases the healing from potions.

200 Str plus 4 nerfs from the lvl 50 Nerfkitten brings with it +36 bth (between nerfed defenses and nerfed stats) as well as increasing damage by 20% each time an attack lands. This is shared by pets and guests as well.

Potential damage output, the nerfkitten + 150 Cha is better. You'll do just fine with lowering Cha and going with z token pets. I'm assuming you know the 100% attack rates for those pets and that 60 Cha does the trick. I know nothing about them.

re: Character Rating House & Advice [11]

That seems clear cut that keeping the 150 cha is the way to go. But thats kinda the problem rite there as well with the 36bth. Even though I use CIT pretty much always, I dont NEED anymore then 20bth to hit most things (exeption of arnbushes and such). You all probably know what I mean; the first nerf you depend on, the second is nice, after that its all surplus.

So although I would be getting more bth and dmg with the nerfs they do take a few rounds, if I upped my bth from round one maybe I could finish the battle a round earlier. Although I usually use poelala so I have to wait for her to pump it up anyways.

Imma have to think about it some more.

btw, what exactly are luck and dex doing now again? I forgot the changes.

re: Character Rating House & Advice [11]

There's a downside to giving up some bth for the nerfing pets because sometimes the nerfing pets don't hit! But then even with the extra bth from Dex or Luck, you'd have a difficult time hitting high level Ambushes anyhow.

Really, +10 bth isn't going to make a difference in most stat rolls. It will in about 1 out of 10, but that's it.

Bth-> Dex/16 + Luck/20 That seems like quite a difference, but it really isn't. There's at most +2 difference between the two, unless you are talking about Ranged attacks where Dex is significantly better.

Damage-> Dex = 0 while Luck/2 for lucky strikes. Since lucky strikes occur 10% of the time, 200 Luck would give you an average of 10 additional random damage. But since it either hits or doesn't, it is very inconsistant. Since it is random damage, the damage itself is inconsistant. It can do nothing, but it can do major damage.

Luck does all those other things too.

Dex does increase damage for ranged attacks, but it is now Dex/40. At 200 Dex, that's a whopping +5 random damage.

re: Character Rating House & Advice [11]

ah thnx for the reminder Eladar. I think i remeber the rest luck do with the battle initative, potions and the save stats.

From what it seems I guess Ill still be going for dex on warrior and definatly luck on mage. For a char that pretty much constantly uses CIT having as much BTH as possible from the start to ensure hits will probably be much more consistent than lucky strikes, and Ill benefit more from dex since Ill be getting at least two important ranged weaps, mjollnir and T-G.

Theres hardly any argument I see for using dex over luck on a mage char since only the use of ranged weapons justify using dex at all. If I wasnt all that concerned with doing alot of dmg with my warrior Id probably even be better off going for END, which ALWAYS matters (unless ur so much srtronger than the opponent you only use half your life).

Thnks again for the reminders, I fell like im getting the feel for this gam back again.

re: Character Rating House & Advice [11]

Seeing as T-g and Mjollnir both have +23 bth and ranged is generally a weakness for most opponents, I've decided that Dex really isn't needed for those weapons.

But it is nice to have slightly different builds for different characters.

200 Str + 160 Dex is the most efficient use of stats weapons. I really hope that one day they change the game formulas again and make Dex more useful. It really is a very irrelevant stat at the moment.

re: Character Rating House & Advice [11]

If you have that much Cha, you might as well pick up the lvl 50 Nerfkitten. It is the most powerful pet in the game. It is a real differenc maker.

Since you don't use spells, I'd suggest giving up the old Undead Mutant and go for Pure Warrior. Untrain the Int and put those stats into Str.

Get Nemesis Plate + Nemesis Shield. You'll also want to pick up the Sackleberry Special.

Good luck.

re: Character Rating House & Advice [11]

Shadow would be alright, although most of its elemental resistances are concentrated into Darkness. If I recall correctly, Nemesis' modifiers are more evenly distributed. This means it has a better general protection.

Reign has really good fire, energy and light protection, but it is terrible in other areas.

The fastest way to farm gold is Vince's Maze. Get good at that and you won't have an issue with gold again.
