Final Fantasy VIII gamepad problem |
|
Hi everyone, I'm having a little bit of a problem with my gamepad configuration with the PC version for Final Fantasy VIII. I want to use a Logitech Precision regular gamepad without analog sticks to play the game, but the configuration won't let me use the directional buttons to do that. I'm being stuck with using the Logitech Dualshock gamepad with the analog sticks, but every time I use that controller whenever I start running around, the analog sticks go crazy and I can't control walking correctly that well. I've tried tuning down the sensitivity for the analog sticks, but I've had no luck. I haven't played this game for a while now, but I was wondering if I could play the game with just the directional buttons and not the analog sticks, and how to change the controls to the Logitech Precision gamepad in the config menu under Input. Any help would be great and I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem with FF8. Just started using an "Xbox 360 for PC" controller, but in the FF8 config setup I can't configure the controller to use the D-pad instead of the analog stick. This is a major problem because the analog stick is SOOOO sensitive that I can't even walk straight in the game or use any of the battle/pause screen menus.
Perhaps the game is just too antiquated to handle a controler with BOTH an analog stick AND a D-pad? I'm finding that it is a breeze to do the above configuration in other programs (i.e. a SNES emulator), so it's definitely not a problem with my controller or computer. And I've already looked at all the help options that come with the Xbox Controller's program and "readme" file. Using Windows Vista, too, which I was told is the best "modern era" Windows operating system to run the old FF8 computer game on. Did anyone ultimately reply to you about this? Or can you explain how "another gamepad" was messing it up (perhaps this might help me)? It would be much preferred to be able to play this game with controller rather than with keyboard buttons!!! | |
