Sound effects, but no music. |
|
So I was having issues running FFVIII on my computer for a bit, but now it's playing again (not sure why or what happened, but some hardware on my computer sucks, and is dying, me thinks). But now that it plays, I get no music. All the sound effects are there. But no tunes. So I'm looking up the readme file for help, and I see something that seems to address it, but it doesn't seem to correspond to Windows XP:
"The player needs to have the Audio Compression component in the Multimedia section installed. In the Start Menu\Settings\Control Panel, click on Add/Remove Programs, click on the Windows Setup tab, click on Multimedia, and click on Details. If the Audio Compression option box is not checked, add the component by checking the box and clicking OK. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation." Specifically, when I open up Add/Remove programs, there is no "windows setup tab," and so ultimately I can't check this multimedia thing to see if an audio compression option box is checked. Anyone know where that is on XP? Or know a work around for this lack of tunes playing? I even reinstalled the game to see if that'd work. It has not. | |

I just found out it's that MIDI won't play on my computer. I must have disabled some setting somehow.

Hello, I have a similar problem but I'm not sure what to do, if you fixed yours, can you tell me how you did it?
