To all nvidia users... that patch sucks if you have problems with those lines crossing screen you must disable option in aplication profile(nvidia control panel), in polish its names "ustawienia wygładania obrazu", in english its would be Setups image smooths Idont know exactly its first option from top. For somone who have virtual drive and have no cd reading, simply cut the power to your drive(put out cable). However on my geforce graphics sucks on my older card it was better. If anyone have something like unoficial patch wich is fixing that part msg me ihateu@o2.pl.
Ps. Sorry for my language, I know its bad...

Oh and if you can't read there is an option in nvidia control panel... You must center your monitor at upper-left corner that should make them much better visable.

I have gone with ATI so have not come across this problem, but a friend is using a Geforce and he managed to get around it by switching to Software mode if the config.
It's not an ideal solution, but if you are unable to find the option to switch off, it's worth a try. ------------------- 'Actually one thing stopped me in my tracks. If it is crashing part-way through the movie, then it sounds like the movie file has become corrupt. This could be something as simple as cleaning the disc, but it might not be. Borrow a friends disc (if any of them have this game) and try it with their's. If it gets past the movie then you will probably have to replace the discs.

I know this is a very old game..and a very old thread..but anyways I hope someone can help me with my problem. A friend game me pc-dvd disc saying I don't need disc 2 disc 3 and disc 4 since I havent played the game I didnt know what he was talking bout. Anyway I installed it to my laptop(windows vista) everything went fine till Squall fell off the clock tower and the game asked me to save so I did.. the problem occured when it asked me for the disc2 since my friend said I wouldnt need the disc I just pressed enter and it said "CAUTION" Wrong disc!"
So, I opened the read me file on this folder that has Patches and Fixes and it said to install patches then change the "DataDrive to the same as App Path on the registry which I dont know how..I tried renaming DataDrive to App Path. but whatever didnt help me with the disc2.. so read the readme file again and it said to delete the disc2 disc3 disc4 and rename disc1 to disc2 if it asks to insert disc2..well since that is my problem I tried deleting disc2 3 and 4 =.= but nothin happened..I right click on it and the Delete option isn't even there Y_Y I pressed DEL and nope still nothin..Do I delete the disc2 PAK? My friend is no help caz he went away...if you know what I mean...

It seems like Windows Vista works best for the ff8 pc version.
For Saikano25 there is nothing wrong with your pc or any of your software. All you have to do is insert disc 2. Since ff8 is an old game it's a CD(compactdisk) not a DVD disc, so you'll need to change disk once you've finished the previous one.

I'm completely lost when it comes to patches and finding them. If anyone has been able to fix this problem, I'd be more than thankful.
I'm getting the chopped blocks in game, but the FMV's run perfectly. I've tried messing around on the NVIDIA control panel, but I'm a little lost. Is there an updated patch that I don't know about? If anyone has answers please email me at wasabizombie@hotmail.com Img 1: http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x184/tribillio/ScreenShot314.jpg Img 2: http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x184/tribillio/ScreenShot315.jpg Specs: AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 3600+ 1.91 GHz 896 mb RAM Plug & Play Nvidia GEForce 6100 nForce 430
