Goodbye, sanity in the RuneScape economy |
|
The Grand Exchange has RUINED the RuneScape economy. Don't get me wrong, it was a great idea, but with one little hitch: People want to get money for their items right away, right? So if the object they're trying to sell won't sell, they just set it to minimum price with that handy dandy tool. Nobody ever sells anything higher than market price, because then nobody would buy it. People just find it easier to leave it on the default price, or lower it to the minimum. There are people standing in the GE area shouting, "Item for sale minimum price in exchange!" and that's a good way to sell it. Nobody ever sells for higher than the market price. So the prices immediately take a drastic fall.
Let me give an example: D skirts are down to 200k. I just took a trip down to world 18, edgeville to check out what people were selling for and guess what I saw? Super sets are being sold for 7k each. Prayer pots are being sold for 6k. Ranarrs for 5k each. Pure sets? 4-5k. The list goes on and on. I had 350 ranarrs in my bank, 1000 empty vials, 400 snape grass, and 500 prayer potions. I had been planning to sell those potions for 8-8.5k each. Now I have to sell them for 6k each - and dropping. This is DESTROYING the economy. Do I buy up everything cheap, and hope Jagex fixes it somehow? Or sell everything I have while there's still a bit of sanity? You obviously have a misconstrued vision of economy. Prices used to be inflated, simply because people couldn't sell their raw materials quick enough, and so they sold to merchanters, who jacked the price up. The only thing the GE does is combat inflation, and inflation, btw, is what is killing the economy.

King Arthur's right, merchenters inflated prices, this is all normal in the economy.
Your going to see the prices drop for a while, but the economy always recesses and inflates, its part of a natural cycle, or wave if you want to see it that way. Soon the prices will hit normal, but will start inflating, in the future you'll see. ------------------- "When all other means have failed, It is then lawful to take to the sword" *bleep* the Indian Government

I personally like it, it makes buying raw materials very quick and easy.

The merchants are still devouring the economy, don't you worry about it folks. I'm selling a steady 8 gs blades a day and making around 4m profit (500k a blade or so) every night. This was intended to look like it can help merchants, but actually wipe them out. So far its done the reverse lol because I remember barrow merchants in world 2 shitting their pants waiting for GE to come out, and now I'm making even more money as a result of it. But yeah, some of the shit's just ridiculious, mainly because Jagex used a very rudementary price list when they set it up. If they knew more about the prices of the volitile items like GS, it would be much less dangerous, but oh well.

I have to agree, but some of this is good. Santas came up a little from the 19m they were a week ago. But i hate that red chins are dropping. I sold 3k the day before the exchange came out for 750ea. I tried to sell some and they wouldn't sell for anything over 650ea
Hopefully the prices will become stable after some time. ------------------- ![]() Jeff Gordon FTW.

Learn the law of supply and demand =)
People didn't want to waste time selling their items so the supply of items dropped, jacking up prices. Prices were at an artificial high. Now people can trade easier which puts the prices closer to equilibrium. ------------------- Instead of the cross, the Albatross About my neck was hung.

Sanity in runescape is entirely impossible. You die and respawn in some hick town, lost in a city coated with semen or you find yourself in Monty *bleep*ing Python searching for the holy grail.
