No. Besides, it's obvious you just copy + pasted them from somewhere else. They're someone else's work, not yours. We can't have outright plagiarism here. =\

![]() Introduction Before D/P came over to America, this and Rhyperior were getting a lot of attention. People were excited that rock types were finally getting a boost in power and usefulness in the competitive scene. When it came over, Rhyperior was instantly recognized as OU and Ramaprdos was relativley forgotten. Although it has one of the highest attack ratings in the entire game, it has difficulty getting into play with such low defenses. Typical sweeper, you would say, except it's speed is just as low as its defenses. However, if it somehow manages to get in, it will undoubtedly annihilate anything that doesn't resist it's Rock STAB. 97 HP 165 Attack 60 Defense 65 Special Attack 50 Special Defense 58 Speed Movesets Choice Scarf Rampardos @ Choice Scarf Adamant: 4 HP, 252 Attack, 252 Speed Stone Edge/Head Smash Earthquake Zen Headbutt/Crunch/Head Smash Crunch/Zen Headbutt/Head Smash This is probably the easiest way to use Rampardos. As soon as he comes out, he is able to threaten just about everything. You must note that, because of his ability, he switches out much less than he needs to. Gengar, Bronzong, even Rhyperior tremble at the presence of a Rampardos. The last two moves are mostly for type coverage, although Zen Headbutt is important to make sure Fighting types don't try to wall you in any way, although most are frail. Rock Polish Rampardos @ Focus Sash Adamant: 30 HP, 252 Attack, 228 Speed Rock Polish Stone Edge Earthquake Zen Headbutt/Crunch/Head Smash A different version of Rampardos. You lose some type coverage, but get the freedom of switching between attacking types. Works well as a lead, especially considering that it is unhurt by Sandstorm, the one HP will not be a problem. With this particular EV spread you'll be at 418 after the Polish, being able to outrun most notably Choice Scarf Heracross, as well as Medicham. You also out speed every unboosted Pokemon lower than Ninjask, which is necessary when it's hit or miss. Other Options Although Head Smash is listed, it deserves a word. Having access to a Base 150, STAB move that doesn't restrict your move next turn is awesome, but it comes with a hefty price; 50% recovery. Considering you are quite capable of OHKO'ing a lot of things with it, the recoil will often be enough to kill you within two uses. However, it's a nice power move, especially if you're going to be taken out soon, anyway. Rampardos's moveset is really rather limited, as the other moves are useful only in certain situations. Avalanche is a powerful Ice move, especially when you are as slow as Rampardos. However, it requires you to take a hit, something Rampardos is sadly incapable of doing. Rock Slide is always an alternative to Stone Edge if you don't like the lower accuracy. Counters Once Rampardos is in and set up, it will be a difficult foe to beat. The easiest way to beat Rampardos in some cases is to just tribute one of your Pokemon, then bring in something with a priority move (Or Choice Scarf user), or something that resists Rock. A super effective attack versus a Rock type is not something difficult to do, as it is a relatively poor defensive type. Swampert deserves special mention for a x2 resistance to Rock, as well as two types that can instantly OHKO Rampardos back. At the very least, you will at least get it to switch out. Torterra is capable of doing the same thing, just with a x4 resistance. Ground and Grass both super effect Rampardos, also. Donphan boasts a Rock resistance, as well as being able to OHKO with Earthquake or use Ice Shard, if it's already weakened. Apart from that, names such as Lucario (Vaccum Wave), and Mach Punchers are capable of coming in, but switching in directly is a no-no. Of course, killing Rampardos is very simple before it has a chance to set up. Almost any STAB attack is powerful enough to give Rampardos a run for its money, as its defenses are both poor. Opinion Even though Rampardos went from one of the biggest names in premetagame to something you don't see very often anymore, it doesn't necessarily mean its bad. In fact, Rampardos has a lot of things going for it, including Mold Breaker and one of the scariest Stone Edge's in the entire game. Even Skarmory is threatened by it's sheer strength. If that alone doesn't attest for it's sheer power, then truly nothing does. This message was edited by Jyarra on Dec 29 2007. | |
