sorry if this sounds stupid but is it posible to get the pokemon such as magmortar or glaceon etc because i know in wild they can hold items such as the magmerizer or is this wild item option only platinum only?

Well in D/P, if you have Pokemon FireRed in the GBA slot, Magby will appear at and outside of Stark Mountiam. And if you have Pokemon LeafGreen in the GBA slot, Elekid will appear at the Valley Windworks.
Wild Magby may hold the item Magmarizer, and wild Elekid may hold the item Electirizer. Now this method of getting these 2 pokemon and these 2 items is for D/P only.
