I suggest looking here and make sure to stick to DP sprites because naturally they look the best. ^^

My entry has a bit of a backstory:



This is Krysta, a girl from my fanfic. Her mom is Gardenia, which is why the town is Eterna City. However, Krysta's pokemon are more geared towards rock types, with a few exceptions. Turtwig is her starter, Cherubi is her mom's pokemon, and Buneary is just a pokemon she caught in Eterna Forest. This is the theme I believe, because she is a member of this town. Not to mention, besides Rhyhorn, the other pokemon can all be seen or gotten around or inside Eterna City. Rhyhorn is just one of the pokemon she uses. Recolor is Cherubi by me, trainer is a pe2k sprite with tweaking, and trainer card is mine. The hoenn badges are there because Krysta hasn't received any Sinnoh badges and Hoenn was the last league she competed in. If you need any more explanation, feel free to ask.

Here's mine:



My trainer card is centered around Cinnibar Island. The two main things in this town are the Cinnibar Mantion and the Gym, which is fire. Muk, Weesing and Ditto are all found in the Mansion. Arcanine, Ninetails, Magmar symbolize the fire gym, and they are all either found in the Mansion or their evo's are found in the Mansion also. The trainer is the burgeler because he is also found in the Mansion.

Town: Pallet Town, Prof Oak's another grandsdon

Town Info: Famous Town where Prof. Oak lives

Trainer: Wade, Grandson of Prof. Oak who decided to give Wade Eevee as a starter. Wade's speciality is Electric Type who are immensely powerful to take Ground/Rock Type. And he just started his Sinnoh Journey.
Pokemon: Jolteon was Wade's ever first pokemon. And he got his second pokemon Elekid from his childhood friend named Red aka Ash. Wade has befriended Raikou and Zapdos. They come aid when Wade calls for help. He got his Jhoto-starter pokemon Flaffy from Prof. Elm and it evolved into Ampharos after defeating Wallace. Luxray? That's Wade's Sinhoh starter pokemon. It evolved into Luxio after teaming with Red against Team Galactic. Then later evolved into Luxray against Roark's Steelix who evolved as well but lost. He is now training his pokemon against Red.

Charizard_Girl ~ Before I start, I'd like to say that it's very colorful, but there are a few small flaws. First of all, the many backgrounds in the pokemon boxes really doesn't look right, I do understand that they're type matches, but still. Secondly the trainer is kind of hard to see with the house right behind her. The trainers for badges is different and looks just a teeny bit off with the rest of the card. It doesn't follow the theme perfectly, but something like this can be interpreted differently.
Grade ~ C+




AyraCalaenlen ~ Wow, this is very very good. The plain grey gradient background, for once, doesn't make the card boring at all. Not all of the recolors are perfect, but that's a very hard thing to achieve. Nice job, I'm impressed.
Grade ~ A+




Burn48 ~ Lol, very blue. But it is a nice card, just a few corrections. The badge recolors are well done, but the blend in too much with their surroundings. The pokemon a very nice, but recolors as a light blue/white may have worked very well. The trainer is nice, but it blends in with the background slightly. Nice job though.

Minirizzle ~ Nice job Mr. Moderator. =P Anyways, I like the card, but it's not perfect. The chao's are very cute, but compared to the rest of the "blueness" of the card they stand out a bit too much, same goes for the ribbons. The trainer kind of looks weird with the skirt recolor. Also, this is a personal opinion, but I've never been a fan of smaller templates.

christina2010 ~ Oooo, pretty colors! Lol, it's definitely very appealing to the eyes. Only two flaws actually that I can see, and they're very small. One thing is, the background is nice but I think you could've chosen something slightly better. The "eterna card" blends in too much with the background, and it shouldn't be a solid color either, it doesn't look right for some reason. =)

ArcadianSky ~ Wow, also amazing. Everything flows nicely and I <3 fire. Some TEENY suggestions though. One, the "Trainer's Card" doesn't stand out enough compared to its surroundings. Two, this is actually the template, but I think that the name box should have at least 1 pixel of space between the trainer box. ~_^

FourthBeat ~ My, the cards keep getting better. This one is very beautiful really. The dark twilight aspect of it is really eye-catching and it was almost impossible of me to find a flaw. (xD) But I found one, the recolors on Espeon and Absol could look just the smallest bit better.
Grade ~ A+




MachGaogamon ~ There's not much bad I can say about this card. Electric themes are hard to pull off, but you did it. No question. But I wouldn't recommend leaving the badge boxes blank, or having so much space in the name box. Sadly those two things really caught my eye. =(

Rune Ripper ~ Well, there really are no "flaws" in this card. Everything looks nice. It's just a bit plain, there's no recolors whatsoever and the background is just...meh.

--And since you said you're a bit rusty, may I make a suggestion? Maybe say what's wrong with aspects like the recolours, so that people know which Pokemon they didn't do so well on, and what was wrong with it ^-^
