I need a really good dark type for the ghost type gym. like would it be purugly because it can learn dark type moves? I can't get rare pokemon cause im not there yet.... plz reply

If you have a Torterra, I would suggest teaching it the move Bite.

get a shinx, evolve it into luxray, and it will learn crunch(really good against ghost types).

I'd suggest Umbreon, but if you can't get him, try a Dark-type that can learn moves like:
Dark Void
Dark Pulse
Bite
Crunch
Other Dark moves

Houndoom is pearl exclusive, but if you can get your hands on it after obtaining the national dex, your in for a treat. The combination of flamethrower and dark pulse is just amazing. Only a few pokemon, such as heatran and other houndoom, resist this combo. Throw in nasty plot to buff up your special stats and your good to go.

Another good dark type which you can get is spiritomb. Sure, its an *** to obtain, but it has NO WEAKNESSES. And like houndoom, it has access to nasty plot and dark pulse, although I prefer shadow ball since you have a better chance of getting flinch hax with the faster houndoom.

Other dark types include honchcrow, umbreon and skuntank. However, I find houndoom and spiritomb to be far superior.

On my first time around, it was Floatzel that won the fifth gym badge for me, learning Crunch when it evolves from Buizel at lvl 26 Luxray would indeed work well too but it is lvl 35 before Crunch is learned so it depends on how highly you've trained your team really It still knows bite at lower levels anyway which isn't really too much weaker than Crunch Grotle/Torterra (if you chose it) and Honchkrow are both good options too

i suggest getting an acion replay and usingthe rare candy
cheat,or honchkrow

get a AR and get darkri

or if you cant get a AR then get a umbron

Dudes, if he's only at the fifth gym, and knows about action replay, but wants to play the game without, stop "suggesting" action replay.

I wouild go with Honchkrow, Torterra or Floatzel.. They would be your best bets ;]

We all know there's cheats. Stop being a moron and suggesting them everywhere. SOME people actually want to get through the game LEGIT.
