ONIMUSHA 5!! |
|
As of now I know almost nothing about the game except for a rumor saying "Soki sacrificed himself to put an end to the genma, but instead he managed to help ressuruct Nobunaga from the dead. Tenkai reveals himself as Samanosuke, and they have to help bring Soki back to defeat Nobunaga". Wether or not its true, id love to find out. Perhaps this could be the place where we all post any info we find?

If they want to continue the franchise in the same direction as Dawn of Dreams, then it's a big fat 'No' from me. Besides, the Oni-Genma conflict is becoming boring & repetitive.

Well the ending of Dawn of Dreams seems to set up Jubei (Akane) as the logical next protagonist, but I don't really think I'd want that. I enjoyed playing as her, but as a character she was annoying and pretty stupid. I would LOVE to see her grandfather the real Onimusha 2 Jubei make a return of some sort, if Samanosuke can still kick ass with grey hair then so can Jubei.
I do agree though, its getting stupid and as much as I did enjoy playing Dawn of Dreams the storyline with the God of Darkness/God of Light Oni/Genma thing was so convoluted and drawn out it got ridiculous. When in four games there have only been two different main bosses that just keep coming back to life it gets stupid. I don't know any details about Oni 5, but according to Wikipedia there is one in development for PS3. So even if the storyline is totally totally whack then at least the game will be visually stunning. ------------------- ![]()

Well, i havn't played any other except for DOD, but I did buy the 1st one and i played 1 stage and stopped (the controls were just not that appealing for me, maybe i'm too used to DOD controls). I saw my friends play 3, but I'd like to have Jubei as the main character on the new game.

Going backwards through the series doesn't really work that well with Onimusha as Dawn of Dreams is so vastly vastly different from Warlords. Thats one of the reasons why I'm similarly as apprehensive as Dahaka about a further sequel, I'd rather see a game thats more in the vain of Onimusha 2 and 3 than Dawn of Dreams.
Dawn of Dreams just feels like a totally different game, the mechanics of the game are very different and it runs at a much faster pace. ------------------- ![]()

i think oni 5 should carry on from japanese history, ieyasu tokugawa needs to be the next villain who is a genma lord in the next game.

Hehe, I know what you mean Wayne, first Nobunaga and then Hideyoshi. They need a fresh angle. Maybe a prequel dating back to the original Oni/Genma war would be cool.
Or have the main enemy as a really powerful Oni Renegade, like Gargant or the resurrected Marcellus, but more powerful. I kind of thought it was disappointing how Munenori was killed at the end of DoD (if he is actually dead?), the idea of combining his Oni bloodline (dating from the original Jubei's mother Takajo), and the Genma insects could have been expanded on and made him a much more interesting character - just imagine if he had managed to reach an Oni Awakening, that combined with the genma power in him surely would make him an incredible opponent, and one very worthy of being the games arch-villain. If they did something like that then it would also give you a chance to face other oni more regularly, if Munenori obtained the oni technology and artifacts such as the Oni army orb and corrupted it with genma power then he would have masses of power at his fingertips from both the Oni and genma realm. Would provide a backdrop for some insane hybrid enemies of genma/oni too. ------------------- ![]()

I'd rather the franchise bowed out with some dignity, particularly since the last two games failed to capture the style of Onimusha 2. I think bringing back characters or trying to tie in characters of a similar ilk is a litle forced and actually sounds like DoD!
Munenori was wasted to me, and ended up quite one-dimensional with his inane cackling and delusions of grandeur. In theory, you'd think combining the might of Oni & Genma would beget tremendous power, but you can see that he was actually suffering and understandably so considering the Oni and Genma are polar opposites. By the way, did Munenori become Fortinbras in Demon form? I got a little lost during that part. He was holding the seed when the power of the Omen Star channeled into it, so perhaps so?

Nah I don't think he 'became' Fortinbras, I just assumed he got blasted away as the seed exploded into fully formed Fortibras. That was some incredible CG, as much as I have many criticisms about DoD, the CG scenes were probably the best of the series (though I still have a soft spot for the opening and ending CGs of Oni 2 just because I prefer those games).
I can see what you mean about the series ending with dignity, in a way I kinda woulda preferred them to finish at Oni 3, just for the sake of preserving some of the credability of the storyline. I'm kinda torn, as much as I'd love another Onimusha game, I am worried about it straying further down the DoD path and gettimg less and less like the original games that I fell in love with. ------------------- ![]()

yeah i had that feather for ages wat is it for...
more to the point isnt onimusha dod ment to just tie things up for the others in the series. its ment to just make us understand the other games more or something like that. but still so far i think onimusha 4 is great and i would love to see onimusha 5. it would probably be like onimusha 2. number 2 was the best. in munber 2 if u notice they changed the genma on the doors that u need the cirtain weapon to get through but it was a shame then changed it back when oni 3 came out. and the cut scenes kinda dissapointed me at the end as it wasnt as good as the amazing graphics on onimusha 2's ending. re: ONIMUSHA 5!! |

Well, I haven't beat Dod in a while, but if I remember correctly, Munenori is thrown from the wherever he is when fortinbras comes. I also vaguely remember someones face in the dark in one of the cut-scenes, and for some reason I think I remember it was Munenori, though it didn't say it was. So i think the next game will have something to do with the mix of oni/genma blood, which, in my opinion, would be awesome. If Munenori, realizing that the mix of oni and genma blood in him, was unstable, figured out a way to mix it in a way that it was an incredible mix of powers. I highly doubt they'll bring back Jubei(Onimusha 2). I do think that Soki and probably Jubei(DoD), along with Tenkai will be in the 5th installment.
